Florida State quarterback Jameis Winston has been suspended for 1 HALF of FSU's game versus Clemson this weekend for screaming "F*** her right in the p***y" right in the middle of campus yesterday.
Several students tweeted about the incident Tuesday -- saying the Heisman Trophy winner stood up on a table and screamed it from the top of his lungs ... while people around him cracked up.
Of course, the phrase has become an Internet sensation in the past few months ... with hecklers often screaming it behind news reporters who are in the middle of live news shots.
It's just the latest in a string of problems for Winston -- who was convicted of stealing crab legs earlier this year ... and last year, had the cops called on him for allegedly stealing soda from a Burger King.

(14,531 posts)I guess when you have a whole team of people dedicated to fix and hide your criminal actions you tend to feel entitled.
How much better would it be if someone sat him down and told him this kind of stuff is unacceptable. Teach him how to respect other people instead of using and abusing them.
This is a soon to be pro football player. Is this the name that teams want on their jersey?

These PED-laced athletes who have lived a life of entitlement since high school are a bunch of time bombs that go off. They don't know how to interact in society because they've always had someone cover their backsides in order to keep them eligible to play HS or college ball.

What an embarrassment for his family and for Florida State. Hopefully this hurts his draft position and therefore his $$$

"Florida State University Finally Launches Investigation Into Jameis Winston Rape Report"
From the article:
Baine Kerr, one of the attorneys for the woman who said Winston sexually assaulted her, said Thursday the university interviewed his client "early last month." He said "an investigation is ongoing."
Florida State Attorney Willie Meggs did not bring charges against Winston in the case, saying last December that there was not enough evidence to win a conviction against him.

"... while people around him cracked up. " It's about the world's complete disrespect for women. Honest to goddess. So many can't seem to control their actions or their mouths. Clue phone, assholes: Out of control is NOT a good thing. Fuckin' cowards because they know there's not a damned thing the women can do about it. Half game suspension -- Oooh! I bet that hurt!

(6,228 posts)I just struggle with the idea that he did not sit last year for the rape, but he is sitting this year (for a whole half a game) because of something he said IN LIGHT OF what he did last year.
If anything, I call the university out for doing the wrong thing last year and trying to use this pitiful sentence as a way to make amends for that.

(22,165 posts)... as if it were a joke and it is at the bottom of the list?
Perhaps if this kid/man had NOT been accused of rape it would be asinine (I use this term because of its referenced use behind reporters) and possibly a chance for a learning experience .... but, this is not the case for someone accused of rape
joeglow3
(6,228 posts)Don't get me wrong, I agree 100% on being a thief and a rapist.
That said, being accused (and not convicted) doesn't suddenly mean he loses his freedom of speech.
etherealtruth
(22,165 posts)... a lifetime ban for anything..... Has anyone seriously stated that a governmental entity prosecute or intervene in any way related to his speech (i.e. loss of freedom of speech)?
Freedom of speech does not mean there are NO consequences for ones speech .... the university, without doubt, has a code of conduct for its football players.
Playing on the football team is not a right. His conduct was very unbecoming .... it is irreverent whether the accusation of rape was ever fully prosecuted .... his behavior IN LIGHT OF THE ACCUSATION was reprehensible and reflects very poorly on him and on his university and team .... I think there should be consequences for his actions and his speech.
If the university does not act they are actually doing this young man a great disservice (as a human being) .... allowing him to believe his actions are acceptable and that he as a star athlete is above reproach.
Life time ban (without a conviction) no .... sitting the season out .... no problem
joeglow3
(6,228 posts)because of an unconvicted accusation (again, I think he did it and was pissed all last year when he played). I take solace in this in light of him paying the price he should have paid last year. That said, I honestly think if anyone else said this, there would not be the uproar and if the team did not see fit to sit him last year, I fail to see how they can sit him this year over this (and you admit it is because of what he did last year).
etherealtruth
(22,165 posts)many sports teams have strict codes of conduct (for appearances) ... speech is part of that code.
I do believe had some other kid/man (that had not been accused of rape) yelled that out ... it would be a different situation (we are not talking about legal consequences where all is supposed to be equal) ... that person would likely be labeled by me as an immature jack-ass (and nothing more)
It is the cumulative nature of this guy's actions that are so troubling ... by not acting, the university and team are condoning his actions ... and doing this guy a great disservice. He is young and immature, this is the time for him to learn that there are consequences ... and that they may be swift and severe. Sadly, many student and professional athletes believe they are above reproach ... this will not serve him (or society well).
