(36,649 posts)And note the difference between "liberals" & "progressives", and liberals & progressives. The former, who are blind to the obvious differences between the parties, and are only really happy whining & gnashing their teeth - hence their endless attacks on the Democrats, being the only real alternative to the RW GOP fascism masquerading as populism. The latter work like hell to get Democrats elected, because they actually do want an improved world.

(36,392 posts)and tell them that they have to vote but that their principles are unrealistic and can't be achieved or even addressed, the turd way is basically giving the country to the republicans.

(36,649 posts)To be able to be "realistic", and have any chance to have real liberal policies to be addressed, we need to have sold Democratic majorities in both Houses, as well as the Presidency. The idea that there's no difference between the parties, and that any GOP victory at any level is acceptable for a real liberal is a fantasy, and is the very definition of "unrealistic".

(36,392 posts)We had congressional majorities the two years before that. The result was Paulson and Geithner and Bernanke being retained, Bush and Cheney being let off, healthcare written by the insurance companies, race to the bottom, and more republican policies. And who gets blamed? The people who swallowed Obama's lies and voted for another corporate stooge.
The dinos and their fan club are living with the consequences of not acting on behalf of the people who voted for them. The dc dems don't give a shit. They are rich. People who suffer under their reign yet continue to blame their problems on liberals are the idiots

(83,749 posts)and so are you CatWoman, we will indeed keep the Senate. Just my gut feelings of course, yet I knew Obama was going to win not just in 2008 but in 2012 too. I felt it.
