We need to take care of the Earth, and preserve it for future generations, instead of destroying it. It is the only home we have.

They are taught that we are created in the image of god and are to exploit the earth and multiply as much as possible until the 2nd Coming of Christ who will take the believers up to heaven. And the thing is, they cant wait so they hate environmentalists and environmentalism.
