I know it is de rigueur to mock Apple fans, but really.. I hardly think the excessive consumerism and obsession is confined to them.

And, no, I happily keep my phones for years and years--until they fail or no longer serve my needs.

3. Not quite the same.

Android has a bunch of companies licensed to use that particular OS. Apple owns their own OS and Phone.

I kept my first HTC smart phone for years upon years. It is still working, and is being used as a backup browser/reader.

I now have a new HTC One which I am pretty happy with.

The closest an Android phone could come to Apple would be Samsung. I don't like it though for many reasons, from the navigation and its UI. I tend to prefer HTC's and Sony's. It personally makes more sense to me.
