First it was Saddam Hussein, then it was al Qaeda, now it's Isis. We "defeat" these nemesis, then newer, scarier enemies emerge. It ends when we run out of these enemies.

(34,845 posts)3. Well, we could let the Middle East and Europe fend for themselves and cross our fingers.
This is the result of technology (faster communications) merging the 'Old' world with the new. Conflict is inevitable and will eventually decline. It's anyone's guess when murdering bands of killers will stop rampaging through the eastern hemisphere.
I suppose we could sit and watch on satellite TV.
