Gays gassed at event in Russia

I'm unsure if this belongs in LBN or somewhere else, but I'm posting this here.

Renowned Russian homophobe and St. Petersburg lawmaker Vitaly Milonov, reportedly showed up with Russian Orthodox activists at a gay rights event in St. Petersburg, Russia, yesterday, doused the attendees with a green antisceptic liquid, and then gassed the room.

Several attendees fell ill from the gas, according to a report from Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty.

Milonov is the author of the local St. Petersburg version of a series of draconian “gay propaganda” laws that have caused quite a stir in the past two years.

Milonov is no stranger to controversy, and has disrupted gay events before. Among other things, Milonov has claimed that homosexuality can be cured through fasting and prayer.

8. I would be trying to get out if I were them, but the

persecution of gay people would continue even if all the gay people in Russia left today. Babies are born every day over there, and some of those kids will one day be gay adults. So we're not like an ethnic group who can pick up and leave and there would be no more of us there. It's an awful situation, and I wish to God I could do something about it. It vexes me just to read these stories about gay persecution around the world and the religious people behind it all.

It's so horrible to hear of persecution of ANY kind and not be able to help in any way. Yes, I know what you mean. There is really no escape. Religion. Either warring or persecuting, especially when they know they can get away with it and never be held accountable. What happened there was mass assault. Do they not have ANY civil rights or otherwise laws in that country?
