(68,644 posts)It could be ISIS propaganda, it could be counterpropaganda, or it could just be some prankster and the youtube uploader fell for it.

What is there to back it up?
There is nothing in the video that makes you think its legit?
The outfits?
the wool mask?
the environment?
oh, you want to see 3 dead bodies and THEN you might believe it.
ok...I will see if I can find the dead bodies for you.
You bethcha.

(68,644 posts)Outfits can be had anywhere.
But what's missing in the video is any attribution to the source and even the posting account gives no indication of credentials.
Do you just believe anything that comes along on the Internet?
Come on now....

First, I did some research since reading your post and found original material, which I won't post, because that's helping them.
So, it seems that ISIS released on Friday a longer piece and what you posted is a piece of that.
I'm not sure what your point is in posting it because you didn't really say.
Is it about the US accent? Well the US is investigating the possibility that 40 of them may have lived extensively in the US, long enough to acquire that accent, if not born and bred here.
Anyway, they are known for their slick production values.
What proof do you have that this clip from the longer video isn't just staged?

(23,946 posts)since the mass media is giving free publicity to everything they pump out, why not use them to
terrorize the folks in the land of the, cough, brave?
TV can sell fear as easily as it sells pissy beer.
Is ISIS coming to dig our graves now, ma? Make more room under the bed!

(68,644 posts)Unless it's changed since being purchased by Google, they care more about being caught up in music copyright infringement suits than in providing reliable content.
And the comments sections have seemed totally unmoderated, with foul racist and homophobic comments allowed to stand.
Like you, surprised that "News" wasn't already taken.

(3,539 posts)By this I mean look at the difference in filming between, oh say, Monty Python and things like the Blues Brothers or Ghost Busters.....
Or something like City Homicide (Australian cop show) compared to any U.S. cop show.
Differences in camera angles, timing and so on.
What is more is they appear to aim the 'fear factor' at western culture. Something the U.S. has never understood is that cultures are different. What might unnerve someone in Kansas might not have the same effect on a person in Vietnam. Like I said, understanding the culture is something we haven't quite gotten the hang of.

(114,904 posts)A real discussion might entail such thoughts as "does the President's plan have a strong chance of working or will it actually make the region more unstable and increase the ranks of radical fundamentalists taking up arms?" How about this question: "What happens if Assad is overthrown; does Syria become even more violent and devolve into an even worse civil war?"
You don't seem to be able to think beyond "go get 'em".
Rhinodawg
(2,219 posts)But that's not the point of the video.
#1. There has much talk of Americans joining ISIS and this is certainly appears to be one of them. If this is a propaganda video directed at certain US groups , it may be very successful.
#2. it is estimated there are 500-1000 AMERICANS who have joined ISIS. It should give everyone pause to consider the possibility that they will be coming home.
Not "go get em", never said that...how about " stop them if they plan to come home to kill people"
hope that helps.

(114,904 posts)It's that you have such a think about pushing fear. Yes, ISIS sucks. So does Boko Haram and literally dozens of other violent groups operating around the world.
It's hardly surprising that there are a few Americans within ISIS. We're a nation of over 300,000,000 people and ISIS seems to be a magnet for violent little psychopaths who can window dress their shit with religion.
This fuckwad doesn't present a danger to the U.S.- and neither does ISIS; to the stability of the region, to people in the region, yes, but who destabilized the region to begin with? And will our intervention, particularly in Syria, lead to further destabilization.
I personally find your posts on ISIS all heat and no light. You never post anything actually informative or insightful about this. Never.
I see you don't find atrocities, war crimes and beheadings informative or insightful.
I respect that.
I will try to do better.
thank you.
cali
(114,904 posts)and that's what you just did.
Of course I never said anything of the sort, as you well know.
You are a fear peddler. You offer no analysis, no comment, no context. Ever.

(16,286 posts)They are soldiers of who?
Why do Americans think they are coming to USA, you must think that otherwise why the fear?
Do we all acknowledge this group ISIL wants us to put boots on the ground so they can kill Americans without having to leave town, so to speak?
I do consider the strong possibility that they are coming home.
if that's fear...well, I guess I'm guilty.

(77,053 posts)Its hard to imagine a better indication of the ability of elected officials and TV talking heads to spin the public into a panic, with claims that the nation is honeycombed with sleeper cells, that operatives are streaming across the border into Texas or that the group will soon be spraying Ebola virus on mass transit systemsall on the basis of no corroborated information, Daniel Benjamin, a counterterrorism adviser during the first Obama Administration, told The New York Times.
Raed Jarrar of the American Friends Service Committee also argues for a more sensible approach.
ISIS has a limited capacity, and it poses a small threat to nations within its reach in the Middle East, he told The Progressive. The threat it poses to the United States and Europe is even more limited. The FBI, the National Counterterrorism Center, and other experts agree there is no imminent threat to the U.S.

Just what policy do you advocate, and how does posting this video while not saying more help achieve that policy?

(12,041 posts)In fact there is a very good chance you have the software to do it yourself, there are lots of computer programs and smart phone apps that can alter the sound of a voice and it is not uncommon for those sorts of programs to be pre-installed on many of the new computers and phones that are sold.
