When I was 26 years old, I was taken to a club by my boss - the club owner was one of our legal clients. While we were in the building, the police showed up. funny note...I have a Davis/Docking sign in my yard. Daughter and hubby came over for dinner thought the sign said Davis/Cocking. We had a little laugh over that.

I bet 9 out of 10 do, and only those already very negatively predisposed toward Davis will feel otherwise.

That's just my gut feeling.

Yes its relatively minor thing...but I can see older women voters in Kansas not liking this.

Still many weeks to go, but it took him off message for a day.

When polled, the vast majority state they don't like mud slinging...but politicians keep slinging anyway. Why? It works. It would be foolish to pretend it won't work at all in this case.

Crystal ball - I expect to look at tommorrow's paper tommorrow, and see a mug shot of the club owner pastered on the front page.

10. The Kansas voter is hard to nail down

We're a shoe in for the Republicans for presidential elections....yet we alternate parties with the governor's office.

Ergo....some voters (alot of voters) vote for both parties and alternate quite regularly.

Our last Democrat governor? Mark Parkinson...filled out Sebelius' term. Just a few years earlier, he was head of the Republican party in KS. And just a few weeks ago a hundred Republicans endorsed Davis. IOW there is a huge overlap with the parties.

So yes, some potential Davis voters were turned off by the story. Honestly, Brownback wouldn't the risk of dredging up old mud to sling, if he didn't think it would pay off. Old saws about not affecting likely voters are just like the notion that mud doesn't work - wishful thinking....which btw doesn't win an election.

Rick Perry and Jeb Bush and Sarah Palin and Bob Dole
