Pentagon to deploy 12 A-10s to Middle East

http://thehill.com/policy/defense/218510-pentagon-to-deploy-12-a-10s-to-middle-east#.VCBsLwBlGNY.facebook

The six-month deployment from the 122nd Fighter Wing is not specifically part of President Obama’s fight against the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria, but the airmen and jets could provide air support to troops battling ISIS on the ground.

2. While I oppose this clusterfuck of a war, the A-10 is a hell of a bang for the buck compared to MIC

3. The A-10 Thunderbolt, AKA, "Warthog" is one hell of a close ground support aircraft.

It can take a lot of battle damage and still keep on flying while inflicting massive damage to armored targets and soft targets with it's DU firing cannon and it's hellfire missiles.

Glad to see the Warthog isn't yet put out to pasture.

They don't need to fire DU rounds. I hope they don't.

We'll always need a flying '61 Buick with a big-ass gun.
