(62,325 posts)AGAIN. It's hard to believe that McCain and Cheney and all the other old war criminals, suddenly developed a conscience and learned not to lie over the years.
And then DUers know a whole lot about our Arab 'allies'. Eg we know that Bahrain's dictatorship is routinely abusing its own citizens who have the gall to protest peacefully, FOR YEARS NOW, asking simply to be allowed to have some freedom.
And we know that Saudi Arabia has been funding many of these 'extremist' groups. So it doesn't make sense to a person with a logical mind when the very people who created this group, is now out to destroy them.
We also know that it was Saudis who were responsible for 9/11. We learned about the funding of AQ through various charitable groups yet, we went to IRAQ which had zero to do with 9/11, because that was the first country on the PNAC list of seven in the ME and Africa they wanted to destabilize.
And then we saw their dream come true. Iraq, Afghanistan, Libya, Syria, which didn't quite work as planned, yet. But I would be willing to bet that before much longer, there will be 'regime change' there too, and that after that happens, it will resemble the disaster in Libya and in Iraq and in Afghanistan.
Could someone point out one place that has 'wiped out terrorists' where we spent years and lives and money supposedly doing that?
And could someone explain how repeating what has failed (except for arms dealers and defense contractors) so often in the past, is going to work this time?
Feinstein and Rogers tell us we 'are in more danger than ever'. Really? I guess they didn't realize that if they are telling the truth they are arguing AGAINST military intervention. How stupid do they think we are?

(62,325 posts)I doubt at this point any president actually has any say in any of this.
But we are learning and are not as likely to be fooled that this is for our 'safety' as a lot of people were back before Iraq.
So now we have to decide what to do about this. At least that is a step further than when we were trying to make sense of it all.

It's pretty obvious that not all of us are learning, unfortunately.

(7,234 posts)For a year they've been trying to convince the american people that they need to go into Syria to get ISIS but the moment they start bombing targets in Syria they say its to get "Khorason".
And what the fuck is Khorason?

(7,321 posts)as if to suggest you were actually afraid of being killed by IS? Like you actually BELIEVE it was about to happen any minute now. Do I have that right?
disruptive is the new word for destructive.
Disruptive kind of gives it all a more pleasant, acceptable meaning, doesn't it? Intended to obscure the reality of savage, death and destruction.

(3,580 posts)It was reported on in several articles after the bombings. There is a possible link. I think they are a more likely threat than Isis.
What if the intel we have does connect khorason to an attack that already happened here? Then yes I think if there is a verifiable link we are correct to go after them.
I'm less concerned about Isis. They haven't attacked us yet, khorason may already have.

(2,345 posts)I feel considerably less safe knowing that we're surrounded by a nation of sheep that can be convinced at the drop of a hat of the necessity of bombing into oblivion any country or group populated by brown people. Even if it is a group no one had even heard of yesterday.
Anyone who continues to buy this crap needs their head examined.
