If collecting dust leads to needed refurbishment, hint: our nukes..

that tells me that perhaps it truly was a waste to spend hundreds of billions in the 80's(unfathomable amount of cash back then) in the first place.

Nukes are best left un-purchased.

Otherwise, they lay around, collect dust, and in another 20 years, they'll need a $10 Trillion refurbishment. Only to repeat the wasteful and corrupt process.

Depending on the Warhead, they all have a fixed maintenance cycle, where they are returned to a Depot, checked out and possibly rebuilt as required.
My thinking is that they are a weapon that, hopefully, will never be used. Think of it as an insurance policy.
