Woman Says She Was Brutally Beaten By Teenage Girls On Subway In Brooklyn

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) — A woman was viciously attacked by a group of teenagers on the subway in Brooklyn – and she said it all started when she decided to speak up about their behavior.

As CBS 2’s Jessica Schneider reported Monday night, the 21-year-old victim said she was beaten by three teenage girls when her subway train pulled into the Seventh Avenue G Train stop in Park Slope.

It was a brutal attack the woman, named Amanda, said that all started because she asked the teens to stop swearing inside the crowded subway car.

Amanda, who did not want to reveal her last name, said she made the simple, peaceful plea to the group of 14- and 15-year-old girls on the afternoon of Sept. 10. The result was violence, she said.

over the place, many places, towns, cities, etc. Sometimes IMO this is asking for trouble, because it's a trigger, and some are looking to start something and hence their behavior. Same for me on bumper stickers, I don't feel like my car being keyed because some jerk doesn't like my bumper sticker.

not to engage with others on the street if you don't know them. I've learned the hard way to avoid almost all eye contact no matter what, because making eye contact can sometimes be the nonverbal equivalent of inviting miscreants to poke and prod you.

bar hop years ago with a guy that carried a permitted concealed pistol. He said he had gotten into too many unprovoked weird incidents in parking lots with thugs looking for trouble.

I had another friend that was beaten to near death by a group of teens because they thought he was gay. He was not gay, but straight, married and was a doctor. But these jerks decided they had to seriously beat him up. That brings me around again to understanding those that belong to Pink Pistols. What is one to do.

One can look straight ahead and all, but there are some seriously fucked up people wandering around. In my peripheral vision before I've seen on a couple of occasions someone looking like they seriously wanted to kill me. Just a total WTF to me. I guess I don't look like a thug or whatever, so they think I'm a mark to fuck around with ... no idea.

I've personally had it with the culture and the BULLSHIT excuses that follow!

"Just one bad apple", "They're Heroes!", "I'm reserving judgement until all of the facts are known", "They're just misguided youths", "They don't have father figures to look up to", "They put their lives on the line!", " We need more after school programs!", "We need more training", "He said he was sorry!" and on and on and on and on!

I would have told her to mind her own bleepity bleeping business. Yep I would have actually said bleepity bleep. Cuz I like to yank chains that way. I might have given the finger too. Unless they were being loud and obnoxious. Then you adress the loud behavior not the words they are using to communicate.

That being said if she was physically attacked that is extremely uncalled for and illegal for a good reason. I hope they catch her attackers if she really was attacked and get them some help they are teenagers so they might be able to learn something and go forward with less anger issues.

If they know what the words mean its too late. If they don't then the problem only exists in the heads of adults. We don't need to censor other people's speach. If it was loud we can ask that it's quieter speach, there are laws about disturbing the public.

The girls initially were victims of rude behavior however, unless as stated before they were being loud and obnoxious. If they were talking among themselfs and dropping f bombs or whatever they should have been left alone. If they were loud that behavior should be addressed and that should be addressed no matter what kind of words they were using. But, the minute they battered someone they were criminals. I hope that clears things up for you.

(as that recent NYT op-ed referred to Michael Brown) would be like waiting for the Second Coming to happen, in my opinion, given the assailants' ethnic and socioeconomic background as members of the majority.

So it's ironic to me how commenters to this story fail implicitly to recognize that thuggery is exclusive to no race or class.

I recently was assigned to work somewhere downtown for a day and decided I'd leave my car at my regular place of work and take the bus in to avoid the idiotic parking fees. Now this a suburban route on a Monday holiday in the middle of the afternoon....

Within minutes of sitting down, I'm listening to some guy, obviously not all there having some conversation with another rider about sports or whatever....somehow, the conversation turns to God and religion. Obviously not all there guy suddenly starts yelling....FUCK GOD, FUCK THE CHURCH, FUCK JESUS HE NEVER DID SHIT FOR ME, DON'T JUDGE ME, FUCK YOU, YOU STUPID FUCK, DON'T FUCKING PUSH YOUR BULLSHIT ON ME.....ASSHOLE FUCK!!!!

Thankfully, I had my MP3 and earbuds and slipped them on. Last time I do that.
