OKC Gun Range That Serves Alcohol To Open This Friday

OKLAHOMA CITY - The newest gun range in the metro is set to open this Friday. But this place comes with a bit of controversy.

We're talking about the new Wilshire Gun Range, located on Wilshire Boulevard near Western Avenue. This place has gained national attention because it will also sell alcohol.

We recently talked with the owners and they stress once you start drinking, you won't be able to go past certain “checkpoints” in the gun range. They stress this will be a safe environment with plenty of precautions in every corner of the building.

All staff will be trained for sobriety testing. There will also be a point of sale system.

Everyone will be too busy stuffing cheetoes in their face to do any shooting. Besides, it's too hard to shoot a gun with all that cheetoe gunk on your fingers.

If they have a system in place to prevent people who consume alcohol on the property from in any way going near the range or firearms, then how is this any worse than a regular shooting range?

You'll excuse me for not setting my hair on fire with the rest of the posters.

not to mention the customers. Guns and alcohol are a shitty mix, period. I just hope the first person who gets shot there deserves it.

I just thought it would be a neat story to share. It has generated a lot of conversation around here in Oklahoma. Frankly it doesn't bother me much one way or the other.

... but only after the range is closed for the night. I'm not sure that even with "checkpoints" this is a good idea.

I'll leave it at this.
