http://www.whio.com/videos/news/surveillance-video-john-crawford-iii-at-walmart/vCtDmK/In case you are unaware, the grand jury did not rule for any indictment.
Let me share that this is about 15 minutes long...shows John browsing, shopping and talking a lot on his cell phone. He was in his own zone...it truly looked as if he was taken totally by surprise in my opinion. You judge for yourself. Shooting is at the very end.

(24,470 posts)don't have a link, but read it a few weeks ago. The guy said he lied about Crawford pointing his gun at other shoppers.

(115,677 posts)attention to much of anything. They didn't need to shoot him, could have given him a moment to react. "The chief says the officers arrived within three minutes of the call and their quick action kept the situation from escalating further" my shiny butt.

(12,287 posts)When discussing the scenerio with others, I ask them to substitute their own son in John Crawford's place and then ask themselves, was it justified now? I sense the answer is no.

(12,287 posts)I did not see an immanent threat, no hostages or threatened bystanders... No evidence of the toy gun being used in any threatening posture towards anyone. Everyone but Ron Ritchie, aka George Zimmerman 911 caller...and the ONLY 911 caller by the way, all others ignored or discounted him as just another shopper.

(34 posts)I watched the video. The man pulled the pellet gun off the display rack and as he walked around the store, he played with the pellet gun. BTW the gun was not packaged in card board and plastic. Why not? Everything I buy from the store is sealed in heavy plastic. I watched 15 minutes of non-eventful video and he threatened no one. At the end, the cops ran into camera view and the cops immediately shot him. God damn it; it was a stupid pellet gun. Now I am really fearful of cops. Does walmart and other stores make surveillance videos of everyone that enters their doors? If so, I'll never walk into another store again. Or does walmart and other stores only make surveillance videos of specific individuals? If so, I'll never walk into another store again.

(8,554 posts)My opinion is that this was a modern-day lynching. Ronald Ritchie and his wife, April, provided false information to the authorities both before and after the shooting, resulting in the homicide of John Crawford III and also the death of the terrified shopper who collapsed after the cops began shooting inside that Walmart.
Like you, I am familiar with that area and the murder of this young black man and the resulting exoneration of those responsible for his death does not surprise me, at all.

(34,486 posts)Will there be any charges whatsoever of the guy that called 911 in the first place? If not, that is sad. I hope his guilt keeps him up at night.

(12,287 posts)My doubt's were reinforced when the prosecution entertained Ron Riche to a private viewing of the Walmart tapes so he could prepare for the grand jury testimony. They are now BFFE.
