As an attorney, I could come up with a very longwinded explanation.

But you have crystallized in a word what it all adds up to.

I'd rate it as a more difficult job than being president, because not being an independent Constitutional actor, there are a lot of things that have to be taken into account for every decision.

The entire office needs to be re-thought.

Ever since the independent prosecutor law expired, just what is the role of the AG to the rest of the executive branch is a billion shades of gray.

but cali provided a link yesterday to show he actually is well off (don't know if it's through his efforts, his wife's, or family money - but the net worth was about M$11). Some people are richer, but that's enough to put his teenagers through college and relax into retirement. He's 63. So, maybe just sick of it all.

Janet Reno (8 years-Clinton
Homer Cummings (5 years 9 mo-FDR)
Eric Holder (5 years 7 mo)

I imagine the guy is just exhausted. Its gotta be a monsterous job and with a congress like he faces, its hard to blame him. At least he can be replaced with just a simple majority now.

He's stayed on longer than most, 4th longest serving AG ever. The job is not one that someone typically serves two terms. He may get a job in the private sector but maybe not since he's so well off already.... (lol of course he will)

Federal Government Sues Companies Over Anti-Transgender Discrimination Claims

An historic first from the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission.

snip//

WASHINGTON — The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission filed lawsuits Thursday against two companies accused of discriminating against transgender employees, the first time the federal government has brought suit under the Civil Rights Act of 1964 to protect transgender workers.

The two complaints, filed in federal courts in Florida and Michigan, are the latest — and most ambitious — steps in a series of aggressive moves taken by the commission in the past several years to advance LGBT rights under existing laws

Eric Holder will leave as soon as Obama's choice to replace him is approved by the U.S. Senate.
In other words, he's not going anywhere.
