Except for the savage violence & beheading, today's evangelicals and GOP are not that far different than ISIS politically. It is all about enforcing their racist radical religion on everyone else. All one has to to is take their outspoken policies to their logical end. Both entities have the same totalitarian ideas and end games for the masses.
When we start allowing radical religionists to define public policy and action in the context of THEIR conscience democracy is over. Their idea is that their ideas and "true" religion must be the code we all live by. They may not be using the savage means that ISIS is using but they are using political means to get to their goal. Voter ID is all about killing the other sides ability to use the ballot box. They should own the ballot box and ONLY they should decide who is in office.
In the long run these radical evangelical Christians are just as dangerous to the country as anyone else. If you look at the protests in Jefferson County Colorado about a change in history lessons aimed at forcing conservative values to be taught it should be alarming and turned back. This board should be literally run out of the county and forced to resign in some way.
Their tactics and the Jefferson conservative board is exactly the same radical Christian coalition that believes that interfering with their efforts to in the end put religion back in to public education is an "affront" to their "religious liberty" to make us all listen to and live they THEIR twisted values.
The GOP backs these insurgents because they view it as the only way they will stay in power economically and politically. The "religious liberty" agenda is really about establishing a white supremacist theocratic nation growing from the local to the national level.

(39,215 posts)their theology. I am a Christian but I would not want to force any religion on the people of our country because my family originally came to the US because of religious wars in Europe where the ruler of the country determined your religions instead of you. You were also often called on to fight wars to force people to follow a specific religion.
We did not want that here thus we created freedom of religion and the separation of church and state.
