hursday on The Alan Colmes Show, Alan spoke with Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) about the possibility of him running for President in 2016. They also discussed where Sen. Sanders stands on the airstrikes against ISIS, and Alan also got a response from the Senator regarding the folk album he recorded in the 1980s which recently went viral.
**********
COLMES: National Journal says, Rebecca Nelson writes Senator Bernie Sanders is almost certainly running for President in 2016. How close is that to being accurate?
SEN. SANDERS: Well, she knows more than I do. All I can tell you is Im giving serious thought to it. Im going around the country talking to a whole lot of people. The issue for me is Im going to run on a platform, if I do run, which is going to take on the billionaire class which is going to ask a whole lot of people at the grassroots level to get involved in a way theyve never had before, to fight for the survival of the middle class, and thats a tough task, so Im not sure its there yet.
**********
COLMES: What has to happen between now and whenever that moment comes for you to pull that trigger?
SEN. SANDERS: Well, I have to see what kind of support there is there, and for me, when you take on the Koch Brothers and the billionaire class, these guys will spend all kinds of money against you. And the only way that somebody like me can win is to put together a political revolution. Strong grassroots support all over the country for people who are saying enough is enough. The greed of the top 1% is now destroying this America, this country.
*********
COLMES: Where do you stand on what we should be doing about these foreign threats and how much of a threat are they?
SEN. SANDERS: Look, ISIS is a threat. This a cruel and brutal and dangerous organization. Do I think that they may well be plotting against the United States and Europe, yeah I do. The question is, how do you effectively address them? I voted no on the issue of supporting the Syrian so-called moderates. Because I think at the end of the day, what I worry about is the United States getting dragged into another quagmire, another never ending war.

(12,081 posts)My number one issue is education, but I recognize we will never get politicians to properly fund education and get companies that profit from state standardized tests out of education until we fix the campaign finance issue. I would completely support this being a #1 issue.

(10,495 posts)Legalize pot, prison reform, list goes on and on. For the life of me I cannot figure out why people here at DU are not more enthused and willing to do what they can to spread the word and help make Publicly Funded Elections (PFE's) a reality!i bring this up all the time and usually get one or two people who agree, but that is it.
These mid terms are a perfect opportunity to protest for PFE's and point out how much each candidate has raised and use it against them. Our signs could show the amount and ask, "Who bought you", "What do you have to do for that money" and "How much $ would it cost us for you to represent us?"
