1. That is great news

I remember the drought in Houston three years ago. It was nasty. After a time under drought conditions, any rain is welcomed

But my plants back home will be happy, at least!

I walked around the dam during our first rain shower that was the beginning of the end of our drought. Just the smell of rain on dry ground is delicious. Enjoy!

I LOVE that smell.. I've always loved that smell. And when I woke to rain here in the East Bay last week, it was a very lovely morning indeed..

it smells even better than blue mountain coffee and that's saying something.

8. Wonderful news

I drove thru the Central Valley in June -- up the 99 and home on the 5. Came home a raving maniac re climate change. You all are really baring the brunt of the winter no snow situation. Kings River was ankle deep in June. Sending hope for the need for a new umbrella!

10. Just checked the radar.

It's a large cell that seems to be moving east (hear that, Nevada?) now. Right now it's down to a drizzle. But still, we had a little thunder and lightening to go with it. It smells glorious outside.

11. There has been rain just south of us...always moving east...

Rain coming into northern California, then moving east.

The Central Coast is just not getting any yet.

Glad you are getting some and it does smell grand when it's raining...

14. Wife and I awoke to the symphony of gentle rain this morning (central valley)

I poured a cup of java and went out to sit on the porch and listen. An hour later, it's tapered off. I hope we got more than this tease.

beats Fred the spotted Florida Softshell. Im not responsible for that.
Frederica would be more appropriate. well over a foot on the carapace,
with a neck that goes from 0-60 like a V8 Pinto.

31. Farmer's Almanac calls for a "normal" winter

Let's hope...the west coast could really use a break. In my dry bit of southern Oregon we managed pretty well, after a historic drought through winter. There was just enough of rainy spells through summer to keep the rivers flowing and the farms intact, but a decent snowpack would be a welcome thing to have for next year.

Someone gave me one of those Indian rain-sticks a long time ago. We had serious flooding back in the 80s. My husband actually hid the damn thing cause i was playing around with it. As usual, Mother Nature got the last laugh.

Good for you!!
