1. That is great news
I remember the drought in Houston three years ago. It was nasty. After a time under drought conditions, any rain is welcomed

But my plants back home will be happy, at least!

I walked around the dam during our first rain shower that was the beginning of the end of our drought. Just the smell of rain on dry ground is delicious. Enjoy!

8. Wonderful news
I drove thru the Central Valley in June -- up the 99 and home on the 5. Came home a raving maniac re climate change. You all are really baring the brunt of the winter no snow situation. Kings River was ankle deep in June. Sending hope for the need for a new umbrella!

10. Just checked the radar.
It's a large cell that seems to be moving east (hear that, Nevada?) now. Right now it's down to a drizzle. But still, we had a little thunder and lightening to go with it. It smells glorious outside.

31. Farmer's Almanac calls for a "normal" winter
Let's hope...the west coast could really use a break. In my dry bit of southern Oregon we managed pretty well, after a historic drought through winter. There was just enough of rainy spells through summer to keep the rivers flowing and the farms intact, but a decent snowpack would be a welcome thing to have for next year.
