General Discussion
Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsI'll tell you EXACTLY what the 'culture' of the Secret Service is and then some!
I have already written posts about the 'sex romps' and the 'drinking within the Secret Service. So let's move on from there, though congressional oversight will be reviewing that as well, once again.
Some reports are a little more thorough then the WaPo, concerning the shooting at the White House from Constitution Ave. "They somehow came to the conclusion it was a shooting argument between two people on the street."
In the most current incident, the 'crash box' right inside the doorway to the White House had been "muted".
Soooooooo, let me explain the culture. The White House USHERS inside wanted it muted, because they said it was TOO NOISY! Oh my, was it agitating to read their cell phones, texts, etc. while listening to the BEEP every time someone entered?
Now back to the shooting on Constitution Ave. It was a White House M A I D who was dusting who saw the BROKEN WINDOW and glass on the floor! The BROKEN GLASS! Soooo, then they go look outside and find chunks of concrete laying below where bullets hit the White House AND the window. But it was beneath them when the incident happened, to go and look while they were ON THE JOB? These 'ushers' and these 'agents' don't deserve their jobs! Turn them loose to the unconnected world like the rest of us live in. They won't be able to stand on their own two feet. All of this is so absurd, it's unfuckingbelievable!
I'll bet they're good at backslapping and taking selfies and enjoying the "look at me job".
What is the culture? It is people, working on our tax payer dime, that are SO DAMN FULL OF THEMSELVES, who were raised in an elite lazy culture! They are our nations brightest? World class educations? Elite connected family members? I've worked on campaigns where this culture is their breeding ground for future work. The Yale interns...blah blah. Oxford....blah blah. Let me tell you....even in a campaign capacity, THEY S U C K !
That is the damn truth. So I hope Cummings, on the committee today, can see further than what steps were not taken as to improve future roles by the Secret Service. Was the first point guy near the door where he was suppose to be or off to the right? He was off to the right. Nothing can improve that, unless he is a little more serious about his job. The shooting at the White House that broke a window? Just because someone says it was two people fighting on the street, they don't even look, do a walkabout? And, the ushers don't like the beeping on the CRASH BOX inside the door? Then go get a civilian job somewhere else. Then see how full of yourself you are.
Only when you realize that, can you improve it. So many are looking for work, that would love to be an usher and listen to that beep. For the beep means someone is entering and to be aware of anyone without a pass. That means it's your turn to protect the POTUS. WOW! But the usher's think they are more important, and that little annoying beep...beep....beep.
This....is a culture of B R A T S!
Start there Rep. Cummings.....these are my tax dollars!

Colorado Independent:
Colorado U.S. Rep. Doug Lamborn said that behind the scenes he and other Republican members of Congress were encouraging military officers to resign in protest over President Obamas foreign policy.

(20,054 posts)Were asking, why not release the dog? said one law enforcement person who is reviewing the incident. That would have stopped this.
The services tactical canine team is a celebrated jewel in the agencys crown, winning international awards year after year. It was created in 1976 for one purpose: to stop would-be suicide bombers from getting near the White House. The teams exclusively use the Belgian Malinois, considered a kind of faster, leaner, meaner German shepherd.
But the dogs cannot easily distinguish between good and bad guys. When sent in the direction of an intruder, they could also attack a nearby officer responding.
For that reason, Secret Service training manuals advise officers to try to collar White House intruders if they feel sure they can do so, and otherwise stay at their posts, so as not to create confusion for the dogs.

(47,647 posts)If there is a lackadaisical attitude at the WH for the Secret Service, it is a management problem, not a worker problem. The people at the top need to go, not the workers.

(2,104 posts)Those on the inside are well connected...let me tell you.
PS. This is an ongoing issue. Why do you need 'proof' now, when the history tells you all of this.
The drunk / prostitute romps, passing out drinking, etc. You need proof that something is wrong in the thinking of the highest ranking protectors in the world?????
Just watch the hearings. I have a lot of faith in Cummings.

(39,961 posts)They failed at least 4 levels of security to prevent an intruder from accessing the White House. To imply that someone is jealous for pointing out how seriously screwed up this incident was is petty.
After the things that the Secret Service has been caught doing - hiring prostitutes, getting drunk, and now this - it is clear that there is a problem in their organization. If they can't take guarding the White House and the life of the President seriously, they need to work somewhere else.
This was a serious breach. The White House should be the most secured facility in the country and on all levels the people on duty failed to perform their primary function.

(47,647 posts)Suggesting the bottom (workers) are the problem because they are spoiled elitists is petty (and mostly likely wrong).

(39,961 posts)These kinds of screw ups can have serious consequences for our nation. I don't know where the problem is, but someone needs to find out and fix it so that the life of our President and his family aren't endangered.

(22,186 posts)this is how DC works. These people are not just workers - many got where they are by connections. That's just the way it is for all positions that hold status there.

(131,015 posts)If people aren't doing their jobs properly it's up to management to see that they do. Managers are responsible for hiring qualified people, training them, overseeing their work and firing if necessary. If the front-line employees aren't doing the job the way they should the heads that need to roll first are the managers' heads.
Proud Public Servant
(2,097 posts)It's a shared problem. Management definitely needs to go, but it's clear that the rank and file are not doing their f*cking jobs while actively besmirching the good name of the service with their behavior abroad. This thing is rotten from top to bottom.
Aerows
(39,961 posts)This was a serious breach in security. It seems like everybody completely screwed up from the top to the bottom.

(2,104 posts)And get serious! As it stands, most of them don't deserve their jobs either.
Boner....Ryan....Cruz....and dems who placate.
They all need to "reflect".
When they're done, if the glow of such a job has ended and they no longer do good, just play games...they should leave.
They get lifetime pensions...they should go golf.

LawDeeDah
(1,596 posts)?? the SS was caught with prostitutes on duty or some such thing. There was an even bigger scandal with the State Department SS under Hillary but that wasn't covered very much at all. It was much more serious than the President's one where they got fired but I don't think there was much punishment in the SoS event.

close to uncovering the truth...he will be stopped by the GOP who feign outrage when they think it's necessary but who really work against protecting the government, government workers, and the President and First Family. They feign supporting the military when they really only support military contractors otherwise their votes in Congress would be different.

If they can't even secure the White House, then there are some real issues with them as an organization.

Cumming is right to bring up the 'culture'. That's is where the rot lies....

DynCorp Gets $72.8 Million Contract Despite History of Child Trafficking
DynCorp is one of the most lucrative and infamous military contractors in the world, perhaps only surpassed by Halliburton. They both have a documented history of gunrunning, drug dealing, and human trafficking.
In addition, the actual work that they do on the record is sub par and their rebuilding efforts have gotten terrible reviews, especially DynCorp.
Despite this history of nefarious behavior and poor work, Dyncorp was just awarded a brand new $72.8 million dollar contract by the US government. Not only that, but they have also been given an advance exoneration from any liability.
Thats right, our wonderful government has just given DynCorp almost $73 million to continue what many believe will be shabby work that may only be used as a front for more sinister operations.
According to AllGov.com:

US: DynCorp Disgrace
by Kelly Patricia O'Meara, Insight Magazine
January 14th, 2002
Middle-aged men having sex with 12- to 15-year-olds was too much for Ben
Johnston, a hulking 6-foot-5-inch Texan, and more than a year ago he blew
the whistle on his employer, DynCorp, a U.S. contracting company doing
business in Bosnia.
According to the Racketeer Influenced Corrupt Organization Act (RICO) lawsuit filed in Texas on behalf of the former DynCorp aircraft mechanic, "in the latter part of 1999 Johnston learned that employees and supervisors from DynCorpwere engaging in perverse, illegal and inhumane behavior [and] were purchasing illegal weapons, women, forged passports and [participating in other immoral acts. Johnston witnessed coworkers and supervisors literally
buying and selling women for their own personal enjoyment, and employees
would brag about the various ages and talents of the individual slaves they
had purchased."

Again, those who are well connected and never held accountable.
These SS agents...should be F I R E D. And not allowed to move into another high security or contracting position for big bucks. Again, special help for those undeserving as above.
