‘Morning Joe’ Piles On The ‘Politically Correct’ Secret Service

By CATHERINE THOMPSON Published OCTOBER 1, 2014, 9:40 AM EDT

Some of the male panelists on MSNBC's "Morning Joe" wondered Wednesday whether Secret Service director Julia Pierson hadn't been dismissed over recent revelations of serious security lapses because of her gender.

Panelist Donny Deutsch, acknowledging that he wasn't exactly taking a "delicate" approach to the subject, said that promoting women into positions of authority shouldn't be prioritized over competence.

"We need to be careful that we are never, ever throwing the baby out with the bath water as far as the best person always has to get the job," he said. "As we kind of go through her resume, you go 'Obviously, coming off the prostitute scandal, okay, yeah, women on top makes sense, good for the brand, if you will.' But the brand doesn’t work if it’s not competent."

"In positions of national security, quota second, competency first," he added.

a female performing duties of their job. In fact, I think it would be sexist for someone to infer that a woman CAN'T be held to the same standards as men, doing the same job.

I am not impressed with Pierson. I thought she was self serving and evasive in her testimony. She needs to go and be replaced, but she's not the only one. The whole "frat" culture has to be changed. Clearly, Pierson wasn't the person to do it.

Questioning her qualifications and asking point blank "How did she get the job". The male members on the show did not bring gender into the discussion. Willy Guist was quick to add that the director had solid experience and had been on several secret service details in the past etc. Duetch also softened Mika's implications and framed the discussion in a fairer manner .

Having said that, I don't give a rat's ass if the head of the secret service is a man or woman - get your shit together right the fuck now and stop exposing the president to risk! The incompetence is staggering.
