Every year here in Grand Rapids, MI, we have Artprize. There are a couple thousand art exhibits scattered all over the city, even in the Grand River, and it really is way cool. This particular piece consists of life sized cutouts--silhouettes of armed men posted on several buildings downtown. It freaks you out when you first notice them, but that's the point. Folks were mighty upset about it until word got around that it was an exhibit. My personal favorite is by a guy from Kalamazoo with help from honey bees. It's a series of very realistic etchings of nature & the bees, encased in a large glass space, have built honeycombs on the drawings, so they are constantly changing. That also made the short list.
