Ebola Patient's Partner Quarantined In Apartment With Family Members

(CNN) -- The partner of Ebola patient Thomas Duncan is quarantined in her Dallas apartment where Duncan became sick with the virus after his trip to Liberia, the woman told CNN's Anderson Cooper.

The woman, who asked to be identified only by her first name, Louise, is quarantined with one of her children under 13 and two nephews in their 20s because they were in apartment when Duncan became ill, Cooper said.

Louise and her family are in isolation with sheets and towels used by the Ebola-stricken Duncan, Cooper said. Louise did use bleach to clean her apartment, "but it's not clear to me how systematic the cleaning was," he said.

Family Of Dallas Ebola Patient Quarantined

Liz Szabo, USA TODAY 1:04 p.m. EDT October 2, 2014

Texas health officials have placed the Dallas family of a Liberian national infected with Ebola under quarantine and ordered them not to leave their home or have any contact with outsiders for 21 days without approval of the local or state health department.

The "control order" also requires the family of Thomas Eric Duncan to be available to provide blood samples and agree to any testing required by public health officials.

Officials said Thursday that the four or five family members could face criminal charges for violating the order, which was delivered to them in writing Wednesday evening.

The Texas order covering the four or five family members also instructs them to report any symptoms immediately to Dallas County Health and Human Services. Symptoms include fever above 100.5 degrees, headache, nausea, diarrhea or abdominal pain.

The order remains in effect for 21 days — the incubation period for Ebola. After Oct. 19, family members without any Ebola symptoms are no longer considered to be at risk.

Instead they trapped the family in there and left them to clean up as they could.
