President Obama gave brief comments to the press today on concerns over a potential Ebola outbreak in the United States. And the president wanted to reassure everyone that such an outbreak is unlikely to happen.
Obama said the U.S. is taking steps to fight an outbreak, which he touted as a reminder of American leadership in the world. Other countries, of course, need to step up as well to help stop outbreaks.
The president said, The nature of this diseasethe good news is that its not an airborne disease. We are familiar with the protocols we need to isolate and greatly reduce the risks of people catching this disease.
That being said, Obama expressed confidence that the chances of an outbreak in the U.S. are extraordinarily low.
