Report: Thousands didn't register to vote in Ferguson since August after all

http://www.vox.com/2014/10/3/6900373/ferguson-voters-are-registering-in-record-numbers

Update: USA Today's Yamiche Alcindor on October 7 reported that the local director of elections had miscalculated the number of Ferguson residents who signed up to vote following the August 9 shooting of Michael Brown. The actual number is 128, not 3,287

Following the Brown shooting, many of Ferguson's residents protested nightly, and part of their concern was that their local government didn't represent the city's black community. Although 67 percent of Ferguson's population is black, the mayor and police chief are white, one of six council members is black, and no one on the local board of elections is black.

There are lots of things he does that I don't agree with but there are some things that he does that are good for the state.

I wouldn't call him a fake democrat, just more conservative. He's pro choice, pro labor, pro marriage equality which is more than you'll ever get out of most Missouri politicians.

Democracy isn't pretty, but they have got to try. I support them in their seeking justice for Michael Brown. We can't, however, help them change their politicians and those responsible for the injustice there. They have to help themselves too.

but more importantly, ask this question:

In a town of 21,000 citizens that issued 23,000 arrest warrants for those 21,000 people, might there be any impediments to obtaining proper ID and registration?

If they harrass you to the point that you lose your license, you have to find another way to get ID. Maybe interest has accrued on some petty fine they threw on you, so you're a few grand in arrears, enough for them to toss you in the slammer if you show up trying to get a "real" ID.

Everyone doesn't live in Wonder Bread America. Some people have all sorts of burdens tied to them by the system, and those burdens are ENGINEERED to disenfranchise.

But you all go on hatin.' It's so much easier than researching or thinking.

Peace.
