Library of Congress staffer fired for being gay

http://www.washingtonblade.com/2012/04/09/library-of-congress-staffer-fired-claims-anti-gay-bias/

A gay man has charged in a discrimination complaint that he was fired last week from his job at the Library of Congress after being harassed and humiliated for more than a year by a supervisor who repeatedly cited passages from the Bible condemning homosexuality.

Peter TerVeer, 30, a management analyst at the Library of Congress’s Office of the Inspector General since 2008, says in his complaint that supervisor John R. Mech created a hostile work environment for him to such a degree that he suffered severe stress, forcing him to take disability leave last fall and earlier this year.

“I contend that I have been subjected to a hostile work environment by Mr. Mech since August 2009 on the basis of my sex (male), sexual orientation (homosexual), and religion (non-denominational Christian/Agnostic),” TerVeer states in an affidavit accompanying his complaint.

“I maintain that Mr. Mech has acted to impose his religious beliefs on me,” TerVeer says in the affidavit.

Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it is an abomination.(Leviticus 18:22 KJV)

If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination: they shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them.(Leviticus 20:13 KJV)

than I about such things said that when taken in context with the earlier passages, they were talking about the Pagan temple rituals (homosexual as well multi-partner). The priests of the Torah were very interested in keeping the flock pure and untainted by their neighbor's religious practices.

Of course, that was before the Priests decided those same Pagan people needed to be destroyed along with their animals and plants.

It might be worth looking into.

Closer aligned to read as "children", not homosexuality...
Because there's an entire section in the bible that speaks of this one man's incredible love towards another more pure than with a woman. So just more bs.

“The Bible contains six admonishments to homosexuals and 362 admonishments to heterosexuals. That doesn't mean that God doesn't love heterosexuals. It's just that they need more supervision.” - Lynn Lavner

if that is to be believed.

If Christianity is supposed to be about what Christ did, then they should be celebrating same-sex relationships as much as he did. There are some good, true Christians who do. There are others who stand on the sidelines with the President. There are others who ignore the gospels and focus on Leviticus, one translation of a passage in Romans, and another in Jude.

It's always been a gay friendly town, even with both Democratic and Republican administrations running things.

AS a matter of fact, if it wasn't for gay and lesbian staffers and federal employees, nothing would get done in that town. Both Democrats and Republicans included.

This fool, Mech, has a target on his back now, because the government operates under the bigger fish rule; there's always someone bigger and badder than you are… And it's a good bet that some of them are gay, lesbian or allies.

TerVeer's boss tried to fix the guy up with his daughter before he knew TerVeer was gay. FACEBOOK altered its settings so that Mech's daughter saw that TerVeer supported gay adoption, then asked him if he was gay.

When he said he was, the daughter unfriended and blocked him and told her father, who immediately began quoting anti-homosexual bible bullshit.

I hope Mech gets fired. His entire family sounds like a bunch of assholes. I am so sick of the religious crap that goes on in this nation. Mech doesn't deserve his position - TerVeer just happened to be the person who was the object of Mech's disgusting behavior, but obviously Mech and his entire family are sick souls who would treat anyone in this situation in the same way.

FUCK the religious conservatives in this nation.

Although he should have brought it forward long ago.
