This is why ya'll need to calm down about Ebola. sure, be concerned, but stop the panic!

I got this from Raw story this morning: Please read it.

Here is an excerpt:

:...She is the second health worker from Texas who has tested positive for Ebola. However, medical experts have maintained that the disease is difficult to catch.

CBS News medical correspondent Jon LaPook corroborated Phoenix Air’s account on Thursday, saying that no one working for the company has caught the virus following any of the company’s 11 Ebola patient transfers this year.

“When protocol is properly followed, healthcare workers can be protected from being infected with the Ebola virus,” LaPook stated..."

TWO people who took care of one patient in Texas developed Ebola...they did NOT follow protocol! These clinical people transferred ELEVEN Ebola patients following protocols and not one has contracted Ebola.

Turned to panic knob to 'low'

Taken an ANTI panic medication ...

Consulted with an Oracle ...

Prayed to the God of Serenity ...

Um ... that's the best I can do to follow your request ... after all, I am only one person, with kids and household and work everyday ... I'm too busy to try and stop everybody from panicking ...

I guess y'all will have to find someone else to change everybody's mind about it ... it's hard to control everybody's thinking

It's *that* hard to contract the disease. Keep flying them in to the USA, Duncan was just an unlucky instance.

the perception of possible threats and have trouble maintaining perspective. Libs are more, "Yeah, runaway truck, I see it, man. Good trick if it makes it through that intersection..."

I'm getting damned sick and tired of people here claiming that there is when not a ONE can point to any example of this supposed panic. Just because there has been fear mongering in the media doesn't mean that any HERE is afraid or panicking. No one here is afraid of getting Ebola or has expressed any such thing.

There has been a LOT of anger though and rightly so. Anger is NOT panic. Anger is NOT "hair on fire". Anger doesn't mean that anyone here is afraid of getting Ebola. No one here is blaming Obama for anything concerning Ebola, and those people talking about it for the most part know a FUCK of a lot more about it than those dashing into threads making jokes and screaming everyone has their hair on fire. NO ONE HERE IS PANICKING. Just STFU claiming that anyone is and providing various examples of whatever that is thought to be more "scary".

There has been a lot of discussion about Ebola here because it IS a crisis though not a crisis outside of areas in West Africa. Ebola talk will not stop here however much some want to turn a blind eye to it because there IS a crisis concerning Ebola in West Africa, and it IS killing large numbers of people - REAL PEOPLE - who are just as important as any real people here or real people that live next door to people here or people that live in this country.

There is FAR more talk about other things all over DU than Ebola. It's EASY to go to those places and use those threads talking about other things rather than trying to shut up those of us that have every fucking right to talk about Ebola here. It's YOUR problem that you don't care enough about people dying horribly like flies outside the realm of you and your loved ones and so much so your prime ambition is to try to stop anyone from talking about something you don't care about other than your OWN panic of whether or not and how talking about it at all could damage Obama or elections.

If there is any panic here concerning Ebola it's those people trying to shut up any talk of it here with an unreasonable fear of any possible negative affect on our politics regardless of how remote. THAT is who has their hair on fire. THAT is who is panicking for no reason. And THAT is why not one single person claiming panic or hair on fire here has even attempted to point to one single example of it and it's because they know they can't because there IS no panic here.

No amount of ridiculous hair on fire or panic claims or here's something more likely to kill you claims is going to stop anyone here discussing Ebola. The more it happens the more obvious it is why it's being done. The next person making such claims had better be prepared with an actual legitimate example of any panic going on here about Ebola or STFU. Quell your own unreasonable political fears about it before trying to point any fingers, and douse your own flaming heads because there is no secret whatsoever that the only panicking and hair on fire people here are those trying to shut up any talk here of Ebola any which way they can which has not been working anyway.

Excuse me while I continue to talk about Ebola because I actually give a shit about people dying horribly by the thousands outside my own personal realm and don't give a shit about a squalling media that squalls insanely about anything all the time because our media is so fucked in the head and the absence of any political ramifications because their aren't any.

Great rant!

I think many are still trying to find and medium between panic and dismissiveness.
