Pretty disgusted in this republican ad running in NH.

The scene is a spelling bee, and the girl is asked to spell Shaheen (Jean Shaheen-re-election U. S. Senate).....well watch for yourself.

1. I was sitting with a couple of old ladies, and their reaction to that ad was

"Great!" Of course, they liked Obama, and they couldn't help but note that the picture of Sen. Shaheen at the end of the commercial is "lovely" and that she has "such a nice smile." They aren't NH voters, though but that's how it played with one audience!

Basically, it is a smarmy and obnoxious ad, trying to be picky and mean, but to people who aren't close paying attention, they hear Shaheen, Obama and see a pretty picture of the candidate, smiling. It just doesn't have the "punch" they want it to have.

2. Well, close enough is the way the Republicans' thought machines work.

However, close enough is not sufficient in a spelling bee NOR in an election. That's how we got screwed in Florida.

3. They are good at the cheap shot.

Worse thing is that it will play well with too many actual voters.
