(1,560 posts)Scott Brown was elected less than a month after the Senate passed its version of HCR. Does Barney really think we could have gotten something better had they waited til after Brown was seated? Don't know where he's trying to go with this.

(45,319 posts)started with the assumption that America can not do anything large, or really good, that the solutions we know work we can not use, for we are weak and poor and all of that. Our Senate is kaput.
The law itself is mediocre, the lead up was depressing as hell.

(23,864 posts)...we actually saw the hand of the 1%, during the summer break when people were going healthcare town hall meetings with rifles slung over their shoulders. The 1% know they can spook some measurable percentage of people into a palpable "here come the Commies" blood fear. I don't think I'd ever seen that sort of handiwork on display so clearly in my lifetime.
The damage was long-done legislatively by that point though.

(37,648 posts)They're desperately needed by millions. And if I become unemployed, and I might, I will be using that health insurance federal govt website to try and find a healthcare policy. I won't qualify for a subsidy, but a lot of people will (whenever that kicks in).
