Halloween costumes you just should not wear

http://www.cnn.com/2014/10/24/living/bad-halloween-costume-ideas/index.html?c=homepage-t

There are silly Halloween costume ideas, there are ugly ideas, and then there are these costumes. We all know it's a party night, but some folks don't have the sense Ceiling Cat gave a rutabaga.

I a suspicion there are some that are worse. Maybe someone will post a few of those.

Who thought blackface was a good idea? Controversy over 'tasteless' Ray Rice-themed Halloween costumes as Janay Rice says 'it's sad, that my suffering amuses others'
Photos have surfaced on social media platforms of people wearing ill-judged Ray Rice-themed Halloween costumes
People appear in blackface in a shocking number of the photos - even a young boy
The photos have received a number of negative remarks from commenters highly critical of the tasteless behavior

And I'm telling it to you for free. You're welcome.

A werewolf mask while wearing an astronaut spacesuit because what could be worse than to be a lunar astronaut cursed with lycanthropy?

Same thing goes for an ISIS combatant and beheaded hostage.

Characters from Game of Thrones and The Walking Dead are also a certainty.

Guaranteed some imaginative revelers will think "oh wow... what a great idea,
that no one else will think of", and they show up at the party and there's 5 other
Daenerys Targaryens, Rick Grimes and headless journalists.

It happens every Halloween whenever there's a big newsworthy event or hit TV show/movie.

Now, if someone does a post-Red Wedding Catelyn or Robb Stark, extra candy for them! But, you can expect every little girl coming to your door this year to be Princess Elsa, or Princess Anna.

And appropriate for honoring the Dark Mother at Samhain. In fact, if it was being worn as a part of cosplay, and not by a famous person, I'd say that it was spectacular. But, since it's being worn by a famous model who is doing it for fun, it's racist.

that I'd be hard-pressed to find a Halloween costume that I feel is beyond the pale.

It's Halloween. The whole point of costumes is to get a reaction. Laughter, horror, whimsy, nostalgia, whatever. I'm not so sure I should dig deep to be offended by a Shiva costume or an abusive football player when others are dressed as murderers, dismembered bodies, or rotting corpses. Is something that offends the psyche from fear so far away from that that offends from umbrage?

Fair point about lack of creativity, though. Seems everyone wants to offend and shock. One might get away with a robin-williams costume through sheer audacity and shock value by virtue of originality, but not if there are 5 others at the party. If you're going to shock, be unique.

Personally I go with the old standby gorilla suit.

(A person who should not even be relevant right now, but still is.)

It's an old costume but I still have the outfit so why not.

I want it to be a surprise.

It is supposed to be fun, not offensive. No blackface or anything tasteless like that.

It could be offensive to DU if they're offended by a trashy woman from Alaska who's family gets into brawls.

One of the black women came to work as a pregnant nun. We had several people with 16 years of Catholic School on staff as well as others who had Catholic School grade school or high school.

Every one of those guys, including a VP, almost peed their pants when they saw her.

I followed her around as she went to see each of the catholic school boys. They all had the same reaction: a quick gasp, eyes got really big, momentary loss of voice while they took in what they were presented with. The first thought, "Sister's here!" Followed quickly by "What did I do? Think, what did I do?" followed quickly by "What does she know?" and "What can she know?"

The problem is Sister knows what you did, you have to confess and quickly. Your problem is to confess but not inform. Tell her what she already knows and no more, if only you can divine what that is within the next minute.

Lurking in the background of consciousness was "Something's wrong, something's wrong!" Finally, recognition would burst forth. Its Sonja!

Their gaze didn't make it past the habit on her head and the ruler in her hand. It was only later one of them realized she was a pregnant nun.
