WTF ...180

The hand on the left contains seeds developed in a laboratory by Monsanto (the blue coating contains 5 different toxic chemicals). The hand on the right contains seeds that come from mother nature. Don't you think we should have the right to know which one we are eating and buying? Citizens of Oregon and Colorado are voting on this very important issue this November. Please spread the word, join their campaigns and donate if you can - we really have a shot to change the whole country if these 2 states win!

[font color="navy" face="Verdana"]One of the most important issues we face. The toxins used affect our soil, water, other plants (think superweeds), and animal life, from insects to mammals.

The graphic is showing seed corn which has been treated with pesticides and then dyed so that farmers don't confuse it with harvest corn. Seed treatments come in a rainbow of colors to help identify which is which. The same with organic seed corn. You're being lied to. Pretty sad to see the anti-gmo/anti-science folks resort to this degree of propaganda.

3. I can't find any definition of seed corn that means what you just stated.

I thought seed corn was the best of the corn seeds.

4. Corn seeds, even organic corn seeds, that have been treated are dyed.

Plant seeds 1 inch deep and 4 to 6 inches apart in rows 30 to 36 inches apart. Thin to 8- to 12-inch spacings when plants are 3 to 4 inches tall. Increase seeding rates to ensure a good stand if soils are cold or you are using seed that has not been treated with fungicide. (Untreated seed has natural color. Treated seed is dyed.)

Strangely colored corn seeds are very normal.

5. Why are these GMO corns developed? To withstand the herbicides that would otherwise kill them.

Why would anyone want to eat corn -- of whatever color -- whose special quality is that it won't die when it's liberally sprayed with toxins?

7. "Not always" isn't good enough. And there is evidence that Roundup IS harmful to humans.

Used in yards, farms and parks throughout the world, Roundup has long been a top-selling weed killer. But now researchers have found that one of Roundup’s inert ingredients can kill human cells, particularly embryonic, placental and umbilical cord cells.

The new findings intensify a debate about so-called “inerts” — the solvents, preservatives, surfactants and other substances that manufacturers add to pesticides. Nearly 4,000 inert ingredients are approved for use by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.

Glyphosate, Roundup’s active ingredient, is the most widely used herbicide in the United States. About 100 million pounds are applied to U.S. farms and lawns every year, according to the EPA.

Until now, most health studies have focused on the safety of glyphosate, rather than the mixture of ingredients found in Roundup. But in the new study, scientists found that Roundup’s inert ingredients amplified the toxic effect on human cells—even at concentrations much more diluted than those used on farms and lawns.

One specific inert ingredient, polyethoxylated tallowamine, or POEA, was more deadly to human embryonic, placental and umbilical cord cells than the herbicide itself – a finding the researchers call “astonishing.”

The EPA has conducted many studies on Roundup, and those studies have had different results. The article you posted even says this. Similarly, there have been a few studies that go against the current thought of climate change, but so many studies support climate change, that we general disregard the minority studies. Though just because this one Roundup study contradicts the other studies does not automatically mean it is wrong. I would like to see these things be continued to be studied, but we should go with the majority of studies, like we do with climate change.

that are turning up problems with Roundup.

Go ahead and eat all the GMO foods you want. But they should be labeled so people who don't want to eat Round-up doused foods don't have to.
