(Reuters) - Neighbors of George Zimmerman say he had bandages on his nose and head the day after he shot dead Trayvon Martin, supporting statements by the neighborhood watch volunteer that he was beaten in a confrontation with the black Florida teenager.

Jorge Rodriguez, Zimmerman's next-door neighbor, told Reuters that when he saw Zimmerman the day after the incident, "he had two big, butterfly bandages on the back of his head, and another big bandage...on the bridge of his nose." He was talking to a police detective in his driveway.

Rodriguez's wife Audria also said she saw the bandages and a third neighbor, who spoke only on condition of anonymity, agreed with the Rodriguez couple's account. "I saw two bandages on the back of his head, and his nose was all swollen up," said the witness, who had watched from a nearby second-floor window.

The neighbors said they spoke to Sanford police and the FBI in their investigations but did not recall speaking to the office of special prosecutor Angela Corey, who charged Zimmerman with second-degree murder.

After all, Zimmerman was armed with a freaking gun, Martin was "armed" with a can of tea and a bag of Skittles. Also, Martin was on his way back to watch the second half of an all-star game. It seems highly unlikely, based on my own experience as a sports aficionado in high school, that he would somehow forget about the game and intentionally go looking for trouble.

I'm also the mother of a son who will enter his teens in less than a month.

No asshole with a gun should be able to shoot down my kid because he's a tall, dark-headed teen in a hoodie. My son, at nearly 13, is tracking to be about Trayvon's size at 17 (he's already 5'5" and his baby fat is fading fast).

And nothing is granny or out of focus (sorry haters) so it is REALLY hard to stretch the truth much in this case. IF there were no tapes of Invader Zimm getting 'held' at the PD, then I would expect there wouldn't even be a question on the issue if he was hurt or not. The cops would have said he was, then they would have moved on to the next case. This is uncharted waters now because you can believe your lying eyes or you can believe what a proven liar (Zimm) tells you.

I'm sure this guy will end up appealing whatever decision comes down as never being able to get a fair trial and blame it all on the SPD.

You're right. Those shots are Photoshopped. I work with the program everyday. The close-up of his nose is pretty obviously tampered with. You just use the clone stamp tool to sample an area that's colored diffferently (in this case they sampled a lighter colored area from his face) and just clicked repeatedly on his nose and added the lighter colored pixels to make it look like his nose is swollen. You can see how phony it looks better in the top shot that's more of a close-up of his nose. it's not a particularly good fake either. Whoever did it "repeatedly" sample the lighter area and "repeatedly" added the pixels to zimmerman's nose. Maybe they were thinking how zimmerman claimed to have had his head "repeatedly" bashed against concrete and thought they'd do something in concert with those dubious assertions. It's not fooling anyone here though. DUers are pretty wise to this kind of crap, judging from the other comments I'm reading as most know that if your head is "repeatedly" bashed against concrete you're going to at least be severely concussed, if not knocked cold or killed.

less, and all injuries should have been documented in the original police report, and a report from the Dr./hospital, if and when he was treated.

When he got out of the police vehicle at the station, he certainly didn't look like he had any injuries judging from the way he walked into the station, unaided. Did not look at all traumatized or that he was in pain. (broken noses are very painful)

I agree with those who say the bandages were put there to make him look like he sustained injuries. Neither the Sanford Police nor Zimmerman is stupid. One reason for this for me is why are there no bandages on Zimmerman when he arrives at the Police Station. So, it looks like Zimmerman who was a free man applied the bandages and then reenacted his story with the Cops and his Dad at the crime scene. Of course neighbors are going to see him with the bandages on his nose and head. But as I've said there were no bandages on him entering the Station on the night of the murder, so why would there be a reason for them the next day at the crime scene. I say "window dressing". Another reason is I would have done the same in his predicament. He's trying to stay out of jail and he's going to do everything, as in everything. He knows how the judicial system works and he knows how the Police work. He knows and knew Martin probably had family and they would be putting pressure on the Police. Zimmerman is not stupid..he's doing as much as he can to make it appear as self-defense. He's going to lose the battle. Martin's girlfriend and what she heard, his going after Martin with a gun, and with a warning from the Police Dispatcher not to do so, he was familiar with the rules of not confronting and not caring a gun before the Police dispatcher said what he did, Martin screaming for help and then the shot, and if the story is true from the Policeman who said Zimmerman said he was the one screaming for help, throw that in as well. Add his violence toward a policeman, his wife, and maybe a young girl while he worked as a bouncer at house parties..don't know the veracity of the last one..they happened before the night of the killing. And what Prosecutor Corey comes up with may be more trouble for Zimmerman...we don't know what she may come up with. Tell you the truth, if I was Martin's parents I would have Trayvon's body exhumed, and do the forensics that should have been done from the very beginning. I'm going to add a sentence and it's only my idea: 13 years minimum with possibility of parole thereafter, every year until the 20th year, upon which he would be released after 20 years if Parole has not intervened. I would give Zimmerman a plea deal with the aforementioned sentence. I'm sure Martin's family would want a harsher penalty, and that is there right. What is good about this is it's time we all got our feet wet in our Justice System. Maybe we can make it better. Right now it's broke and will only get worse, if Public apathy continues to wax.
