Reports Of Poll Workers Requesting ID In Missouri, Not A Voter ID State
SHARE St. LOUIS, MO The National Bar Association President Pamela Meanes told ThinkProgress today that poll workers are asking for two forms of ID if individuals cant produce a photo ID. So far, theres one incident in Ferguson and one incident in Jennings. Photo ID is not required to vote in Missouri.

(495 posts)We are not required to have it. They asked and I politely handed them my drivers license. I then watched as they jotted down what type of id I showed and asked the poll worker why I was being asked for my ID, her response was.....It helps us find your name faster? WTF...

(19,841 posts)I've seen all sorts of voter suppression and discouragement when I worked in elections.
I call this type "Santa's little helpers." The creativity of the elves is nothing short of amazing. They get away with it because they take advantage of the confusion of the system.
This sort of thing should be reported immediately--on voting day. Ultimately these sleezeballs should have to answer for it and be removed. If incidents are reported, the offending precinct will be investigated.
I called and had to leave a message.

(37,168 posts)I handed the poll worker my ID and voter card when I walked in. I registered as a dem in 2008 (so I could caucus for Obama) so I took both. Everything matched their records and the only question they asked me was whether I still live at the address on the ID which I do.

The compare signature and give you a ballot.
