1. We need to get better at raising money and buying ads.

The GOP outspent us by 120 million this go-round.

2. If we can sell our message, the money will come

We need people and donors to want to contribute, to want to buy what we are selling.

4. We can't make that kind of scratch with individual donors. We don't have Koch Brother equivalents.

To get people like that to support you, you have to SERVE somebody. Is our stomach strong enough?

Nickels and dimes from the earnest, yes-we-can peanut gallery aren't going to make up for that kind of cash. The GOP engage in cheery prostitution to get that money, because they know they're going to get a piece of the pie.

Someone who makes a better solar panel, a better electric car, a better biodegradable plastic, needs to cough up some huge money. We're not going to get it from individuals. We need massive PAC clout and we don't have it.

I can tell you where every mole, zit and scar on Phoney Boo Hoo Baker's face is. Why? I looked at it every fifteen minutes -- or less -- for the past month, on my TV, live and in living color, as he talked out his ass and lied through his teeth. By contrast I can't even tell you what color Martha's eyes are.

Money changes everything. No one hears your message if you don't have the money to get it out.

5. I should have been more specific,

by donors I meant corporate donors. Yes, if we can sell the message that we're serious and committed to solar power, etc., the money will come.

7. We need some "good guy" Koch Brothers.

Problem is, it is hard to make that kind of scratch without doing something nefarious. Even with a pure heart and decent intent, there will be some nastiness -- there always is. The complainers will say they didn't hire enough American people for their projects, they made a deal with this "bad guy" or that one, and for that reason, they have the mark of Cain....

Then, of course, the Purity Police will do the "Lie down with dogs" finger-wagging. Because only the Kucinich types (less than one percent of the vote/no money/can't win/no support amongst the bulk of the electorate) are pure enough (until they start working for Fox News...then they've "changed&quot .

3. They might try demonstrating that they're actually liberals too

And not just touchy-feely conservative-lites. But call me crazy for remembering how one bold liberal set in motion 50 years of social and economic progress.

6. +1 Stop pretending you are something you are not.

and if you are not pretending then get the fucking "D" away from your name.

It's a shame that politicians are all... politicians.
