Another big issue on why the Democrats lost

And no one seems to be mentioning. GUN CONTROL! Its a failed policy that only empowers the NRA crowd to go out and vote in droves. Even many Democrats (like myself) disagree with their gun control platform. You saw what happened in CO during the recall, and frankly I am shocked Hickenlooper survived the election (which is a good thing...sort of). Now to be clear I am aware GD does not allow discussions about gun control. This is NOT a discussion about guns, but whether Dems should drop the issue or not. I believe they should. It doesn't get very many Dems out to vote and is consistently a losing issue.

If this does not belong in this section I do apologize and will delete if that is the case.

i must have missed that.

I remember a member of Congress getting shot in the head, and a slaughter at an elementary school, and so many other mass shootings that I forget as soon as they happen because there are so many of them.

What I don't remember is any kind of legislative response to them.

The mere mention of any sort of gun control leads to paranoia about "confiscation". Which riles up the NRA crowd. We have to face the facts Americans do not want to hear about it and will vote against it.

You think people would actually believe that Dems. would ever give up an issue like that?

How many people get killed by irresponsible gun owners a year.. It’s probably one of the most important parts of our platform.. And you know what?? We will have a complete majority on this issue soon...

People are just tired of reading about mass shootings in schools, theaters, restaurants..Its turning my friend, it’s turning...

Strong NRA supporters will always be crazed about any sort of gun control..But Moms and dads who exist somewhere in the middle are beginning to let their voices be heard..

Drop the issues of background checks? Unbelievable.

Thats the thing, Background checks become "confiscation" after the paranoid get done spinning. And people eat it right up. Just because it wasn't a main campaign focus doesn't mean its not on people minds. You don't think people remember the after math of Sandy Hook? Sure background checks are sensible but ANY talk of banning "assault weapons" is an automatic no go for the majority. Sorry but that is the truth.

What I’m telling you that down line we won’t need their “stinkin vote.” "The majority” can go shoot themselves in the woods..

For those who did run on it, what were their positions? Did they have policies in mind?

The problem with the NRA is that they will scream "they're coming for the precious" even if nobody is talking about guns. Fear sells guns and conservative votes.

The Democrats want to impose a New World Order, they wanna convert your children into homosexual socialists, and they wanna take away all your guns.

Reality doesn't matter. They've pinned these notions into the reptilian parts of their followers' brains, and you'll have as much luck changing that as you will in curing mouse phobias in elephants.

(Elephants don't have mouse phobias, which only serves to further intensify the problem of curing them.)

I was watching scary movies for Halloween and I realized any psycho can buy a giant knife or even an axe with no background check. Is it even illegal for crazy people and convicted murders to possess a knife that could kill someone?

Think about that crazy man in NYC that attacked the police. Was there even anything to stop him from buying that axe or an even bigger axe? He probably could have even bought a sword. Why does anyone need a sword??? They are designed to Kill and have no other purpose.

Nice people don't walk around with guns or knives.
