World War II vet, 90, vows to continue fight to feed homeless amid Florida city ban

The 90-year-old Florida man who continues to break a new state law by feeding the homeless has become the catalyst for heated conversations between local government officials and charity organizations.

Fort Lauderdale Mayor Jack Seiler alluded to the national attention that World War II veteran Arnold Abbott has brought to the city after the elderly man was twice issued citations in the same week in October for staging makeshift feeding stations for those in need. The two debated the controversial homeless feeding ordinance on local television Nov. 9.

Seiler said the new laws, which prohibit camping, panhandling, food-sharing and other “life-sustaining activities,” are in fact meant to provide the homeless with safe, secure and sanitary conditions where they could seek help.

It was your heartless policies that attracted all the attention.
And those of your vile Chamber of Commerce as well.
