(36,649 posts)To ensure the defeat of the Republicans. Can you say the same? I doubt it. You're ready & eager to hand over half the party to the GOP.

(41,694 posts)But I'm not as eager to hand the other half of the party to the corporations as you seem to be.

(36,649 posts)Yours is exactly the type of attitude that the GOP capitalizes on. President Cruz thanks you for your support. He couldn't have done it without you.

(14,733 posts)in the name of 'winning!!!'. Here's a hint. If 'winning!' means turning into the evils you supposedly oppose, you're not winning.
I'd say you're trying to ensure the victory of Republican ideology, by making sure that no matter who 'wins', both parties support the rich and corporations against the rest of us.

(11,555 posts)That wants to go ahead, not backwards. The side that want to make damn sure we get a democrat in the WH come 2016 to appoint new justices to the SC. The side that will continue to help "all" of this country gain access to affordable health care no matter how long it will take. The side that will work to get things accomplished and not play the "my way or the highway" tactic that gets us nothing. The side that does not try and purge everyone who does not think the same as they do. The side that will "NOT" divide the party because they believe every member has to pass some kind of purity test in order to be a "real" liberal, progressive or democrat.

(30,058 posts)Facts do not change even though they are twisted beyond belief. Democrats will not be fooled by the likes of Rush and FOX and we will not be fooled here. In negotiating union contracts all which was ask was not given but you tried another time and did not abandon the union.

Hey, I understand every friend is not your best winding all the way down to associates but you get on the shit list when all you have to offer is "You see that hateful fucking dumpsterfire over there that has been trying to kill you from jump?" "I won't fuck over as much as they will so I hope I can consider you a friend".
Net negative is net negative. You can go deeper in the hole but at a certain point, it is too deep to get out of either way.

(14,733 posts)thus reducing by 90% or more the number of 'miners' needed to operate a mine?
The 'war on coal' is not a 'war on miners'. The owners of the mines already 'cut the legs out from under miners' with things like mountaintop removal.
What has been lacking, though, is a substantive jobs program from the left, to rehire on people who live in traditional coal mining areas to build wind mills, solar arrays, and other cleaner energy collectors. Society should not simply abandon workers whose jobs are lost as society evolves. They should be eased into work that society still requires.
BKH70041
(961 posts)The miners are aware of that. They're the one's using the tools.
Are you willing to go to Harlan County, KY and tell the miners that "The 'war on coal' is not a 'war on miners'"? I'm willing for you to do so. In fact, I strongly encourage you to do so, and the sooner the better. Just you and the miners; no witnesses. I'll be more willing to lend you an ear, provided you make it back. But until you take that risk....

(14,733 posts)Good to see you've swallowed the Republican message hook line and sinker.
Heck, you've internalized it so well, you're looking forward to violence, as well.
Showing which side you're on, and it's not the side of poor people of any stripe, including miners. You're supporting the Don Blankenships of America.
BKH70041
(961 posts)Yeah, you're on their side, but if you said the things you said to me, they wouldn't view you as being on their side and you fear they'd beat you up?
Have I got that right?
But you're on their side.
But they'd beat you up.
But you're on their side.
But they'd beat you up.
So confusing.
Something tells me people who view you as being on their side wouldn't beat you up. They would welcome you with open arms.
You need to rethink this visit to Harlan Co. You are definitely making a mistake by not going and telling them the war on coal is not a war on their jobs. I think you got them all wrong. I think they'd like to meet you. And 'like' isn't really expressive enough. I think they'd LOVE to meet you.

(14,733 posts)I've been below the poverty line for the last 4 or 5 years, and I don't know that my 20 year old pickup would even last the trip.
And YOU are the one implying they would beat me up.
Don't pretend that whole 'no witnesses' thing was anything less than an expectation of violence on YOUR part. Or that it's not on plain display in your second comment either.
And you know what? I'm sure some few of them actually believe the same Republican line of BS you're spouting. But I don't expect them to be the thugs you're accusing them of being. No matter what Glenn Beck assures you union members are like.
