So two miscreants enter a synagogue with a gun and a MEAT CLEAVER and this is not worthy of discussion here? Too busy posting about about what...the snow in Buffalo (shocking!) or Walmart business practices (even MORE surprising!)...or Bill Cosby's sex life (who didn't know about that for like, twenty years?). Really.
All the usual suspects are gone for now. Oh yes...I forgot...there WERE a few posts blaming the Jewish worshipers on LBN...I guess that was enough. After all, it's NOT anti-Semitism, it's dissatisfaction with the OCCUPIER. Yep....that must be it.

(31,780 posts)Mr Netanyahu condemned Tuesday's violence as a "cruel murder of Jews who came to pray and were killed by despicable murderers.
Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas denounced the bloodshed in a statement, saying: "The presidency condemns the attack on Jewish worshippers in their place of prayer and condemns the killing of civilians no matter who is doing it."
A British-born man has been identified as one of the four killed in the attack.
I don't have a wide enough scope of knowledge - in Israel/Palestine to post a topic like this as an OP. But if you ask me . . . That's as bad as the gun man that opened up on one of our churches (I'm a Unitarian) down in Tennessee a few years ago. I make no distinction between mad men who can't live and let live.
I went after them and got my post locked. Guess I said the wrong thing?

I guess thread shaming is what you wanted to discuss?

(6,393 posts)What's to really say? Nut jobs kill people in tense area, things going to get worse no matter what because of how the response will be.
It made all the headlines on the news networks last night, but still.
When it comes to issues in this particular area, it's something that feels like it's been the same for pretty much all my life. Nothing is going to change with it unless something radical happens.

(25,479 posts)at least you're honest. I'll take that FWIW.

(6,393 posts)I used to be a lot more engaged about this issue years ago, but after decades of seeing it either in a holding pattern with it slowly getting worse, like a roller coaster ride that's always angling downward, I'm just worn. So I tend to stick to things that are a bit more local and areas where I can nudge the dial even a touch alongside others.
When it comes to this, all the outrage in the world won't change a thing. We saw that with the last campaign this year.

(58,724 posts)The Palestinian forensic examiner who took part in the autopsy of a Palestinian bus driver, who was found hanged Sunday night, agreed with the initial findings that the death was a suicide, according to the director of the Abu Kabir Forensic Institute
Police and officials from the institute announced on Monday that the examination had found no signs of foul play. Director Dr. Chen Kugel explained that, in the absence of signs of violence to the neck or body, it was highly unlikely that Yusuf Hassan al-Ramouni, 32, could have been murdered.
It is very hard to hang a conscious person against his will without leaving signs (of violence) other than those caused to the neck by the actual hanging, Kugel said, according to Israel daily Haaretz.
He added that Palestinian examiner Dr. Saber al-Alul concurred throughout the process.
From a medical standpoint, this is a very easy case to analyze, and we analyze dozens of such cases every year, Kugel said. Whats different in this case is not a medical issue, but the fact that somebody threw a claim, with no factual basis, that has the potential to ignite the region.

It seems pretty clearly a terrorist attack, though I've seen nothing to link it to Hamas, so that changes the overall tenor of the story.
In any case, blaming the victims (or Israeli civilians in general) is obviously stupid.
What kind of discussion would you hope to take place in GD?

(4,840 posts)Both sides are stupid fighting over land this long because you think it's "holy." Subjecting the world to a constant grievance. Dragging everyone into this war of egos. When is one side going to just give up and move on for the the good of themselves and humanity? Leave, build a man-made island somewhere, take up a hobby, anything. Just figure it out already.
