Spills in Alberta in the past 4 mos -

*similar info cross posted in socialist progressives group*

As a socialist I am always concerned about labor, and jobs being created for people both in the US and ultimately worldwide. Ideally full-time jobs at a livable rate of pay. But this is probably the worst possible way to create 50 permanent jobs. At the very least let's invest in alternative, sustainable forms of energy.

Just in case you haven't been at Huffington Post to this week - this is important info:

I have always sort of figured if I could not stand things here any longer, I could move to Canada. Seems as if Canada is destroying itself, also. End of unexplored fantasy. Why do we do these things? Why Why Why

and this is so not worth it for 50 jobs. There are so many other directions we can go. Renewable energy - let's put some tax money into wind power for example.

This pipeline is just wrong on so many levels.

Dayam. Does anyone actually still live there? I can understand someone who lived there all their lives, like old folks, but how can anyone with children stay there?

I don't think cleaning up toxic spills is a job creation project. I'm sorry some in labor have put their shoulder to this particular wheel--green jobs are what is needed, not this horrorshow.
