(111,053 posts)I am going to get out my guitar and play a song for Levon... He has a deep musical spirit which will leave a noticeable vacuum when he's gone away...
He will be greatly missed.

(3,469 posts)I bet I've seen "The Last Waltz" 100 times. I own the album, cd, DVD and iTunes download. He was a pretty good actor, too, in Coal Miner's Daughter. This makes me very sad. Loved The Band, loved Levon Helm.

Why do the best things always disappear?

(58,179 posts)Helm is a pretty major cultural figure. Cultural figures are discussed in this forum all the time.
If this gets locked, I'll be pretty fucking pissed.

(11,833 posts)'He was my bosom buddy friend to the end, one of the last true great spirits of my or any other generation. This is just so sad to talk about. I still can remember the first day I met him and the last day I saw him. We go back pretty far and had been through some trials together. I'm going to miss him, as I'm sure a whole lot of others will too.'
