Case Update (Grand Jury)

Good evening, Friends:

I’ve got to drive my daughter home from basketball practice, then attend a school board meeting. I’m often at these until after 11 pm, so I wanted to update people on my cousin’s case.

This morning, the Chenango County (NY) grand jury heard testimony about John Guzy, 56, of Bainbridge, who shot my cousin and his son in a case of “road rage” on 10-27. They returned indictments for the following:

-- murder, 2nd degree;
-- attempted murder, 2nd;
-- two counts assault, 1st;
-- two counts criminal use of a firearm, 1st;
-- two counts criminal possession of a firearm, 3rd;
-- tampering with physical evidence;
-- operating a MV at .08 or more BAC, misdemeanor;
-- six counts possession of firearm, 4th degree.

Also, I had another op-ed in the Norwich newspaper; it is not available on-line. And yet a third should be in another area newspaper this evening, again not available on-line (for a week).

Off to pick up my daughter.

Peace,
H2O Man

I didn't understand from the previous post that I saw that this was road rage. That's really messed up. Apparently the Grand Jury agreed and I am happy for that. Hopefully it won't take forever to prosecute.

Get to it and get it done. No Ferguson-style Grand Jury stand-off business. When did this happen, H2O Man? I've been following your posts, but can't remember the time-line. Best wishes to you and your family. I know the holidays are going to be hard for all of you. What's probably best is if you concentrate on the little ones. They will pull you through.

What heartbreak your poor cousin must be going through. The account of his scribbling down the killers plate number while trying to aid his poor son made me cry. How horrible for all of you. I can't even begin to imagine what you're all going through.

...and I hope they put the bastard away for a long time. It won't bring poor Derek back but Guzy won't be able to hurt anyone ever again.

I find myself checking in regularly for your posts, and it looks as if things are getting very serious for Mr. Guzy. Am wondering if your cousin has been released from the hospital yet. It would be wonderful news if that's the case. Please convey to him the thousands of people by now nation-wide who are with you in solidarity for justice.

He should have been given therapeutic help before his rage got to this.

Your cousin, his son and family did not deserve to be the target of his uncontrollable explosiveness.

Grieving well is a beautiful strength.
