1. I think there's an element to "family values" that is particularly patriarchal

You are only responsible for your family - which is basically your property. So you take care of your family - your neighbor takes care of his family and so on. That's why killing families on the other side of the globe doesn't really matter, particularly if you believe it is being done to protect your family. Your family is all that matters - those other people, they don't matter.

By the same token there's no sense being charitable towards Latino families - even if you aren't the sort to believe that Latinos just aren't real people, they are definitely not part of your family. And given the theoretically economic harm they are doing to you and your family they are easily brushed aside. They should be brushed aside as a potential threat to your family.

That's why "family values" are principally about creating the right kind of families - i.e. ones in which the men are in charge and there's no homosexuality. If each father takes care of his property properly than we will have a smooth orderly society.

intentionally exclude those that don't fit into their way of thinking. They even go as far as holding illegal HOA meetings, just to avoid the undesired opinions from members that don't see things their way.

Little worlds and are threatened by anything outside of that. I could not believe when one of them told me he had seven kids and none of them have shown an interest in attending college. That just blew my mind.

2. I've said it before. The Republicans don't stand for anything but results.

Now, think about the results they're trying to achieve and it all makes sense. It's about protecting an Anglicized image of America. That is why some of their rules and "values" have a fluid aspect.

7. Family Values Has Two Meanings

1: For a Bush it's, 'If your family isn't the Bush Family, it has no value'.

2: For a RWN (right wing nut) it's 'If your family isn't like our image of a family, it has no value'. Incidentally, if you are a RWN you don't have to PRACTICE family values, just preach them. Morality is a matter of 'Do as I say, not as I do'.

Remind me again why we didn't fucking revolt when these pieces of shit had seized power in 2000?
