A great number of people become Republicans because they're brought in by the GOP's race baiting, but much of the Democratic Party is labor based, and labor unions have an ugly racist history of their own. (I am a strong believer in labor unions, but I am also a strong believer in facing up to history, and there's racism in that particular history.)
