Hundreds in Austin join Ferguson protests across the nation

Angry chants of “Hands up, don’t shoot” permeated the air at Austin police headquarters as hundreds of protesters gathered Tuesday evening in response to a grand jury’s decision Monday not to indict the white police officer responsible for the shooting death of 18-year-old Michael Brown in Ferguson, Mo., earlier this year.

It's all part of the same struggles.

You meet a lot of cool people along the way.

We're all fellow travelers so to speak.

I've enjoyed seeing all the photos of all the thoughtful people around the country and world who support the people of Ferguson. Black lives matter.

We have come a long way. Almost all these protests have been peaceful. That's a long long way from the protests in the 1960's and from the L.A. protests after the Rodney King police acquittal.

The need for positive change is no less great. It is urgent. I am very happy though that no one has been killed from these protests in the last day.

Hope you enjoy a wonderful evening and a great day tomorrow!

as many as I can find on twitter. It is wonderful to see all these great people all over the country supporting the Brown family and demanding a better country for the future.

A compilation of just a few of the cities where people came out to protest, peacefully.

but I don't feel lonely because so many good people are raising their voices.

We must reduce inequality. At every level. Social, economic, political, criminal, procedural.

The journey never ends. But you do get to meet really cool people along the way. Both physically and online!

can tell. People have been posting photos all night on twitter. I know I missed a lot, but it is great to see after what happened yesterday. I hope the Brown family are seeing all the support they are getting, some even from other countries.
