I think cops who are dirty will use the " during-the-struggle-he-tore-the-camera-off-me-and-it-was-destroyed" so no evidence can be collected.

Will never happen. They mean to rule.

(11,833 posts)I think different jurisdictions should try different things.
Cameras on police does seem to reduce reports of police abuse in some jurisdictions. So if they want to pay the taxes to finance it in those jurisdictions then I'm all for it.

The perfect retort to any cop that refuses should be "What do you have to hide?"
Sound familiar?

(75,480 posts)On the other hand, it could be an unbiased witness. I got a speeding ticket today. I got caught in a speed trap. I was going a whole seven miles over the posted speed limit.
However, I thought about it later. When the officer asked me for my drivers license I had to grab my purse off the floor on the passenger side and then rummage through it for my license. Then he asked me for my registration, which I had to reach over and open the glove compartment to dig through a lot of trash to extract it.
If I had been a black man, I probably would have been shot because in both actions I could have been accused of reaching for a gun. I think this is where any kind of a camera recording the scene would have been helpful. Maybe we should have cameras in our cars too.

(2,642 posts)The evidence is not in dispute.
The only question remains whether Wilson's use of force was justified.
Many will say "no" because they do not believe that cops should ever be allowed to use lethal force for any reason.
The grand jury, however, disagreed.
A video of this case wouldn't have made a bit of difference except that Michael Brown would have been seen in living color charging at a police officer, and that still wouldn't be enough for many people.

(53,776 posts)None of the several other witnesses said that at all. I mean who charges someone firing live rounds at them. No one. Don't believe the hype of the superhuman negro who can't be stopped by repeated volleys of bullets. It's racist claptrap.
Only the cop and one other so-called "witness" say he charged the cop. That's nothing but made-up foolishness. No one, I repeat, no one, charges into live bullets.
And even the cop said Brown charged from over 100 feet how is that life-threatening?
If Wilson, all 6' 4" of him and armed with the only gun between he and Brown, felt his life was threatened from over 100 feet by the unarmed teenager, he has to be the biggest fu_cking coward around and all he had to do was get his scared behind back in his car and wait for back-up.
Do you get it now how ridiculous that story sounds? He just wanted to inflict punishment on the teen who challenged his authority.
That killer cop is a liar.
