ISIS supports Ferguson protesters: Islamic militants pledge to send over 'soldiers that don't sleep, whose drink is blood, and their play is carnage'
ISIS fighters in Syria post tweets declaring support for Ferguson rioters
Urge protesters to embrace Islam and carry out acts of extreme violence
Uploaded hand-written note vowing to send militants to the Missouri city
But said rioters must first declare their allegiance to Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi
The note Hussain posted on Twitter today is titled 'From #IS 2 Ferguson' and contains a promise to send militants to the Missouri city if protesters pledge allegiance to ISIS.
It reads: 'We hear you and we will help you if you accept Islam and reject corrupt man-made laws like democracy and pledge your allegiance to Caliph Abu Bakr and then we will shed our blood for you and send our soldiers that don't sleep, whose drink is blood, and their play is carnage.'

(58,724 posts)Online activists for Islamic State (ISIS) have been using social media coverage of riots in Ferguson, Missouri over the shooting of unarmed black teenager Mike Brown by a white Missouri police officer to promote their cause.
Using the hashtags related to the riots ISIS activists have been reaching out to residents of the predominantly black St. Louis suburb of Ferguson urging them to join the ISIS wave of Islamist violence.

Or the Washington Post
Islamic State activists on Twitter are using the Ferguson protests to encourage its supporters to carry out attacks in the United States.
A Washington-based nonprofit group that monitors the social media activity of pro-Islamic State accounts said Tuesday that a prominent group is telling followers to use Ferguson-related hashtags to spread ISIS propaganda and incite more violence.

The fact that ISIS (or whoever) is trying to capitalize on this tragedy and use it for their own propaganda purposes is, in and of itself, at least mildly interesting.
It speaks to the twitter world we live in and the way in which propaganda functions today as opposed to just ten years ago.

(16,423 posts)- constant military pressure
- somehow other muslims refuse to accept their caliph as the true caliph of all muslims
- Though they brought stability to some rundown parts of Iraq, they have no experience in administration and make things worse again by too much meddling.
- Despite what their propaganda tells, the locals only obey ISIS' laws at gunpoint. There is no happy muslim community in IS.
- ISIS has to grudgingly accept compromises to their fanatic doctrine to keep everyday-life running in their territories.
- Their occupied territories are running out of doctors and medical supplies. (BYOBD = "Bring your own blood-donor."
- IS has recently begun issuing their own money. I think they are doing this so they can pay their own people with their worthless money while using the foreign currencies they get from trading oil for international deals for weapons.
Victory is right around the corner. Just a few more dead hostages and the Golden Age of Islam will return. Victory is right around the corner...

(11,481 posts)There's a ton of true internationalism going on now days. People worldwide are seeing the same things, a system that's built to oppress the rest of us. That internationalism is now just in the solidarity stage on social media, but it wouldn't surprise me if it didn't get more serious as the situation gets more serious.

As far as what ISIS is claiming, like I said its propaganda

(101,306 posts)Haven't you noticed that they have people in ISIS who know about the internet? They know how to attract attention, especially from click-bait sites like the Daily Mail, and use it for mutual advantage - the Mail gets page views, and you keep their name in people's consciousness and higher on the search page results. Which might help paint them as 'resistance to the wicked West' in some deluded would-be jihadist's eyes.
Well done.

(101,306 posts)Hell, Newsweek pretty much has to - it's been on the verge of folding for years. But they did bother getting a quote from the Qulliam Foundation: 'bandwagoning national and international social media trends is something ISIS are quite adept at'.
The Washington Post does manage to take a more sober view of it - "Ferguson protests used as fuel for Islamic State propaganda" and "its not unusual for the Islamic State, or other militant groups, to use current events to instigate their followers".

stuff like this down on their own heads. Nope appreciate the offer but stay over there and we will takr care of our problems. We are capable enough. And I also ask why would I replace one racist blood lusting religion for another blood lusting religion. No thanks, the good christians have been enough of an example of a bloodlusting, hateful religion. I'll just believe that, God is.
Thank but no thanks. Got enough problems here without the extra killings.

(29,322 posts)They want us over there, its part of their propaganda.
We had boots on the ground in Iraq for years which led to ISIS being created in the first place (also US run prisons didn't help which didn't allow detainees to challenge their detention--where the Baghdadi got most of his initial recruits)
The only way ISIS will be defeated is if poverty stricken Sunnis reject them.
On edit - the also have our weapons & equipment, I don't know how they acquired them (the butt stock of the M16 photo in the link as me curious as the military writes numbers on the butt stocks) but more weapons & equipment in the area will probably find their way into their hands.

(10,745 posts)Yes, strange bedfellows have happened before, but one thing many people tend to forget is that most Islamists, to be truthful, are actually rather bigoted, and in many cases, even outright racist, against people not like them.....just look at what they did to the Kurds!

Recursion
(56,582 posts)... that the African American population (the rate of whom follow Islam they seem to vastly overestimate anyways) is a usable fifth column for them. IIRC Bin Ladin mentioned it during his 2004 "message", but it was seen as a sop to the "near enemy" adherents (which philosophy eventually morphed into ISIS); the "far enemy" people like Bin Ladin and Zawahiri were much more skeptical of the idea (and, at any rate, tended to have a race problem of their own making, c.f. Al Qaeda's multiple early stumbles in sub-Saharan Africa).
