I wish I had some profound philosophical point to discuss underneath that headline, but I don't. I just know the festering cesspool of hatred is not only alive and well in this country, it is thriving. It's been thriving since before July 4th 1776 and has seemed to gain new, poisonous virulence sine January 20th 2009. We don't have to worry about a west African blood disease or a megalomaniac in Moscow or Chinese economic strategies to do us in. We're doing a fantastic job of Star-Spangled Suicide, thank you very much! We don't NEED any outside help!

But, ultimately, in the scheme of things, they can't win. Do you know why? Look at the culture wars; we've been winning those in the hearts of much of the public since the early 1990s, and that hasn't changed. There is even a possibility that Mississippi of all states, may possibly be ready to allow same-sex marriage as soon as 2016, maybe even this year. Acceptance of Transgender people has also gone way up since then, as many people previously on the fence got up and sided with the progressives, once they heard all the facts and convincing arguments on our side; same thing happened with interracial marriage in the '60s and '70s, too.

And the fact that they will ultimately lose in the end is driving many hardline traditionalist conservatives crazy.....because it's becoming increasingly obvious that this is exactly how things are playing out.

It's too sad the way racists have to try and make themselves feel all superior by hatin' on those who are not their color or speak the same language.
