DU used to be a nice place to post,

This discussion thread was locked as off-topic by William769 (a host of the General Discussion forum).

but it's changed.

http://www.democraticunderground.com/?com=view_post&forum=1002&pid=5879237

this above thread was locked, but i was told i was not a liberal because i think it's wrong for protesters to stop traffic. there are many peaceful ways to protest, but it's wrong to inconvenience people. even whoppi goldberg who lives in NJ said it took her 4 hours to get home the other day.

there's still some good people here, but to be honest i think some are rude and don't know what the hell they're talking about. that's why my sister NanceGreggs doesn't post here anymore.

I made the decision to stop at the crosswalk, rather than making traffic stop.

I figured that stopping traffic would make more enemies than it would make supporters.

It's unfortunate that you ran into some who seemed "over-wrought" (for lack of a better adjective).

When that happens to me, I just put them on ignore and move on. However, I pretty much avoid controversial topics in GD because I'm a wimp. LOL

Hang in there, DesertFlower!

However, that was not a bad thread in my view. People with strong feelings on both sides of an issue were having it out, and raising a lot of interesting and persuasive points on both sides.

I too wish we could avoid disrespect for each other, but I don't think it's gonna happen. Please take comfort in remembering that your attackers really don't know anything about you, that they can't harm you, and you have a right to express your thoughts here, at least within the limits specified in our rules.

People are frustrated for good reason which makes us un reasonable but coming down on us doesn't help and never does .Walk a few feet in the shoes of the truly oppressed or atleast try to sympathize with a cause and effect that comes from a need for true justice .
