Whats wrong with Rachael Maddow Show?

She needs to make a big deal concerning the fact that Right Wing Asshats won’t come on her show..
Every day I feel that she should have a segment entitled...Why won’t he/she appear on my show..In this segment she challenges the Republican Idiot on a specific issue, calling he/she out and inviting them on the show for their responses..If she does this enough, (keeps Pressing) in my opinion, it would eventually get national attention. forcing replies from these dumb and cowardly right wing politicians..

Right now I get the feeling that Rachael just preaches to the Choir.. Yes ,incredibly informative and well put together, but it is missing the tension of confrontation... And she could do it and do it well..

This all came to light after the horrendous job Chris Hayes did with Mo Brooks last week.. Really pissed me off that Chris let Brooks run all over him..

Some people turn to Fox because that's what they want to hear (and they know what's going to be said).

Some people turn to MSNBC because that's what they want to hear (and they know what's going to be said).

Some people turn to CNN to see if they ever found that missing airplane.

Repubs use Fox to bash the President and Democrats. Democrats use MSNBC to....um, wait for it.

I don't watch cable 'news' because I already know what's going to be said and what slant is going to be provided. It's like watching professional wrestling (just like Obama said). Oh no, Mitch McConnel is going to hit someone with a folding chair, who could have seen that move coming....

She was at one time quite consistent in mentioning it loudly and proudly. She has gotten a few and still does but it's rare. She always asks the other side to come on or give their side > they don't reply or decline to appear.

When republicans have come on she has treated them with respect, most times asking some tough questions and challenging them.
She may even scoff at them from time to time but still with a certain professionalism and respect. The Koch brothers are probably telling them not to go on since they have now written her twice telling her how she should do her job. I guess they think they can push her around since she is a woman or something.

She did get back on track in the days before but spent way too much time talking about ebola. She has a microphone and a following. She could have done more to motivate voters.

If I wanted non-stop ebola coverage I would have watched CNN.

She did the same thing with Bridgegate. Yes, it was Rachael that brought it to the public's attention but that was all she talked about for weeks.

I agree with you about Chris Hayes - I saw that interview.

They get a vastly better audience on Fox and no challenge to their worldview.

Maddow is possibly the best their is on TV, but MSNBC really is just preaching to the choir now. Their ratings suck and continue to slide from what I've seen. Additionally, NBC news is apparently increasingly uncomfortable with being this closely associated with an almost all progressive network.

If ratings don't improve, I would not be shocked to see MSNBC go away from its current format and focus on human interest stories and more "lockup" type shows (which actually do get good ratings).

takes a bit too long to get to the main point in the stories she presents, so that's why I'm not too crazy about her show and prefer other hosts like Ed and Rev. Al. I'll watch her if I'm desperate for something on TV, but she's not my favorite.

I agree with the OP's suggestion, though. It does get stale with all the echo chambers and telling the audience what to think. I want to see some more wingnuts on the MSNBC primetime shows in general so that they and the hosts can pit their ideas against each other. I'm sure that the hosts wouldn't mind much, anyway, but the wingnuts are afraid of a challenge. All they seem to do is appear on either Morning Joe, Andrea Mitchell, or on Chuck Todd just to be able to say that they've been on MSNBC before.
