My, my,....beloved by so many reTHUGS.........
For the better part of a quarter-century, Hillary Clinton has loomed over American politics as a hate figure for many on the rightand she seems poised to re-assert her dominant position in right-wing demonology in 2016. But there was a time, stretching roughly from her concession of the Democratic presidential nomination to Barack Obama in 2008 to the Benghazi attack in 2012, when conservatives changed their tune on Clinton. In fact, plenty of Republicans even said nice things about her. Here are seven she can look back on as she weathers the attacks of the next presidential cycle.
Dick Cheney
The former vice president is not known as a soft touch, but for a brief moment in 2011, he seemed to hold Clinton in high regard. During an appearance on Fox News Sunday, Cheney told host Chris Wallace of Clinton: I have a sense that she is one of the more competent members of the current administration, and it would be interesting to speculate about how she might perform were she to be president. Cheney also suggested that, if elected, Clinton might be easier for Republicans to work with than Obama.
Paul Ryan
Republican superstar Paul Ryan is still mooted as potential 2016 Republican presidential candidate. But even if he doesnt run, the Wisconsin congressman will be a major force in the GOP as the next chairman of the powerful House Ways and Means Committee. Back in January 2013, though, he was fresh off a losing presidential ticket when he suggested that Hillary Clinton in the White House would have ensured a return to a balanced budget. Look, if we had a Clinton presidency, if we had Erskine Bowles as chief of staff of the White House or president of the United States, I think we would have fixed this fiscal mess by now, he said. Thats not the kind of presidency were dealing with right now.
Carly Fiorina
While Ryan is still on the fence about running for president, Carly Fiorina, the former Hewlett-Packard chief executive and 2010 U.S. Senate candidate in California, seems to be going full steam ahead toward a bid for the White House in 2016. Yet Fiorina, who seems to be positioning herself as a GOP alternative to Hillary Clinton who could appeal to female voters if nominated, has her own history of complimenting the former secretary of state. In 2008, while campaigning for John McCain, Fiorina said: Having started as a secretary and eventually become a chief executive officer, I not only have great admiration and respect for Hillary Clinton and her candidacy and her leadership, but I also have great empathy, I must tell you, for what she went through.
Orrin Hatch
The most senior Republican in the U.S. Senate, Orrin Hatch will not only lead the Senate Finance Committee in 2015 but will become president pro tempore of the Senate, making him third in line in presidential succession. In 2010, when Clinton was being floated as a possible Supreme Court nominee and Hatch was the top Republican on the Senate Judiciary Committee, the Utah senator said of his former colleague: I happen to like Hillary Clinton; I think shes done a good job for the secretary of states position, and I have high respect for her and think a great deal of her.
John McCain
The 2008 Republican presidential nominee and longtime Arizona senator has long had a cordial relationship with Hillary Clinton. Indeed, Clinton once described McCain as her favorite Republican. The affinity goes both ways. In 2011, at a breakfast sponsored by The Christian Science Monitor, McCain praised Clinton as an international star who has done a tremendous job as secretary of state. He also later told to CBS News, I respect Secretary/Senator Clinton; I respect her views.
Condoleezza Rice
Rice has praised Clinton, who succeeded her as secretary of state in 2009, on several occasions and said repeatedly that Clinton was doing a fine job. In 2010, she told Bill OReilly: Hillary Clinton is someone Ive known for a long, long time. Shes a patriot. I think shes doing a lot of the right things. Rice then added, Shes very tough... and shes got the right instincts. George W. Bushs top foreign-policy aide stood by those words two years later, when she described Clinton as great to Ohio Republicans.
Lindsey Graham
Perhaps no Republican has spoken more highly of Hillary Clinton than the South Carolina senator and prominent foreign-policy hawk, who went so far as to describe the then-secretary of state as a good role model, one of the most effective secretary of states, greatest ambassadors for the American people that I have known in my lifetime in May 2012. The Republican also went out of his way to praise Clinton to The New York Times three months later, saying, She is extremely well-respected throughout the world, handles herself in a very classy way, and has a work ethic second to none.

"...I could live with Hillary as president...."
And Wall Street Loves her....

The chart revealed much of what is already known about the Clintons. Wall Street and the financial sector love them, and they dominate with big donors, in a way, that President Obama never has. The great irony is that eighth biggest donor to the campaigns of Bill and Hillary Clinton has been News Corp. Before the phone hacking scandal caused the company to split their media and publishing holdings into two separate companies, News Corp was the parent company of Fox News.

(68,644 posts)Ever since she became a Senator and did things like protect banks from those nasty people who get in over their head in credit card debt?
For example, in her book, The Two Income Trap, Warren slammed Clinton for casting a Senate vote in 2001 for a bankruptcy bill that ultimately passed in 2005. That legislation makes it more difficult for credit card customers to renegotiate their debts, even as it allows the wealthy to protect their second homes and yachts from creditors. According to a 2009 study by the Federal Reserve Bank of New York, the bankruptcy bills provisions changing debt payback provisions played a central role in the foreclosure crisis, as the new law forced homeowners to pay off credit card debts before paying their mortgage.
As first lady, Mrs. Clinton had been persuaded that the bill was bad for families, and she was willing to fight for her beliefs, Warren wrote. As New Yorks newest senator, however, it seems that Hillary Clinton could not afford such a principled position. The bill was essentially the same, but Hillary Rodham Clinton was not.
Additionally, Warren has been a critic of so-called free trade deals, which create regulatory protections for patents and copyrights, but remove such protections for workers, consumers and the environment. Clinton, by contrast, was a key backer of NAFTA and voted for various free trade pacts during her Senate tenure.
Clinton was also a prominent supporter of the 1996 welfare reform legislation that made it more difficult for poor families to receive government benefits. With a new study from the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities showing that law coinciding with a rise in extreme childhood poverty, Clintons position may open her up to criticism from Warren, who has positioned herself as a champion of the poor.

(45,319 posts)people. Back in the 80's people who supported the right wing were my enemies. They still are. I was thrilled that Bill Clinton was elected. Liz Warren was furious. She was a Republican.
Here's a fun fact, if we nominate Liz and they nominate Jeb, both Party's nominees will have being Reagan/Bush voters in common. No matter who loses, Poppy's candidate wins.
I'm not all that comfy with that. Some are.

(6,994 posts)I really doubt that. And you must be really sold on Hillary as a nominee because a vote for Hillary is vote for a Republican.
And did you know Hillary was a registered Republican before Bill Clinton ran in the 92 primary?
Yes Hillary is a ticket for a Republican to occupy the White House in 2016 if she secures the nomination...
...With all the compliments being paid by the Republicans why doesn't she just run on the Republican ticket..
She has the Wall St bankers in her corner that's usually reserved for Republicans. As a Republican she would be a front runner and then real Democrats would not stay home on election day.

(15,480 posts)To call them a political odd couple would be a rash understatement. Conservative media mogul Rupert Murdoch will host a fundraiser for liberal New York Sen. Hillary Clinton, the Financial Times reports.
The mating ritual of the unlikely allies has been under way for months. Clinton set political tongues to wagging last month by attending a Washington party celebrating the 10th anniversary of Fox News, the cable news channel owned by Murdoch.
The fundraiser will take place in July, the newspaper said. Clinton is the frontrunner for the 2008 Democratic presidential nomination, though she has not indicated whether or not she will run.
Clinton has worked hard to take the edge off her reputation as a card-carrying liberal. She has has collaborated with congressional conservatives on some peices of legislation, called for a "common ground" on abortion and cut a political figure some on the left see as decidedly un-liberal.
Clinton, who made her debut in the Senate Armed Services Committee four years ago, has never voted against any major Iraq military spending legislation. She has also taken two high-profile trips to Iraq journeys that may have helped to strengthen the credentials of a senator with no military background or experience.

This site has become a waste of time for anyone who doesn't think that Sanders and Warren are the next saviors of the party, particularly since Sanders isn't even a Democrat.
Yeah, the Republicans LOVE Hillary. They love her just as much as the Left loves her.

(30,247 posts)How would they accomplish that, by waving a magic wand? Democrats don't even hold the majority in one chamber in Congress. It'll be hard enough to elect a Democrat in 2016 after 8 years of holding the WH, and people here want to nominate someone who may be the darling of the Left, but who wouldn't stand a chance in a general election? The mood of the country is not on our side.

(11,175 posts)Bill Clinton sat down with a couple of right-wingers. Hillary Clinton was a Goldwater Girl. Elizabeth Warren used to be a Republican. (90,645 posts)Good grief, people, consider the source why don't you?
The GOP only "liked" Hillary as a way of calling President Obama incompetent. The fact that she is able to get the job done, whether working with Senators like McCain, Graham et al. or world leaders like Putin, is a credit to her capabilities and not a recommendation that she trusts their every word.
Also, remember Benghazi? They hate her as much as they hate Obama.
The moment Hillary announces her candidacy is the moment every slander is pulled from under its slimy rock and polished up for widespread use -- again.
