Can't believe how brave those firefighters are.

Oh I hope no one gets hurt. Look at the fire inside the windows! This is really scary.

The fire initially broke out in a four-story apartment structure along the 1100 block of Elm Street shortly before noon in San Francisco's Western Addition.

(clip)

A second structure is also on fire.

ABC7's Mike Nicco says winds are gusting up to 21 miles per hour near the fire.

Billowing smoke, raining ashes, traffic detoured.

I pray there are no pets home alone.

I'm watching the feed but there is no audio right now (2:51 mtn time), hasn't been for about an hour.

Earlier audio report said all residents were BELIEVED to be out safely. Residents and neighbors were doing a "pet patrol" to check for dogs, cats, etc. Many had cardboard boxes, etc. to hold animals.

That's all I can tell you.

Not familiar with SF.

Video shows continuing eruptions of fire but it appears to be contained to single block of continguous structures.

I've always been told black smoke is burning material, white "smoke" is steam. The more white the better.

KGO TV video shows roof gone, but sufficient structural remains that firefighters are inside on exposed 3rd floor (looks like standing on floor joists) hosing down. third floor virtually gone, no idea how much of other two floors remain. (apparently a basement/lower floor, as building is listed as 4-story.)

Constructed 1915, primarily wood. Old wood burns, and it burns hot.
